Tynecastle 1-0 AS Airdrie

Airdrie traveled through to Lochend to face current league champions Tynecastle on Saturday, With injuries, work, party’s and Icelandic volcanoes taking there toll Airdrie had 11 men, neither of the pensioners in the management had there gear to even masquerade as a sub!!

The game got off to the worst possible start as Tynecastle, from a set play, took the lead. The first ball was cleared and fell to MacKay on the edge of the box but he mistimed his shot and the ball trundled through to Rowan, as everybody turned there backs the ball took a bobble off the pitch hit Rowan’s knee and trickled over the line. Airdrie recovered well and had a few half chances from Clark’s long throw in’s, Brady unlucky with a half chance at the back post from one of them. A well contested first half ended without any further scoring. Airdrie came out determined in the second half with Brady causing Tynecastle’s back line problems with his persistence. Airdrie’s best chance of the half came from captain Smith, Shaw’s solo run turned the home defence round on it’s heels and Shaw squared the ball across the edge of the box, Kenny Pardoe stepped over to leave smith with a clear sight on goal but he didn’t quite catch the effort and it sailed over the bar. Again the game was well contested with neither side able to press home any sort of advantage and as the game petered out Slevin went over badly on his ankle with no one around him. Early signs are ligament damage but x rays proved inconclusive due to the swelling, so a further few days wait till we find out the extent of the damage, suffice to say his season is probably over. Thanks to Bernie and the boys at Tynecastle for there concern much appreciated.

MOM : Andy Edgar  Along with Slevin had the heart of the defence sorted just edges it in front of his defensive partner.
