Airdrie once again fail to capitalise in front of a bumper crowd as we lose 2-1 to our local rivals Albion Rovers in the New Year Derby. The fans hope we would be aboe to claw back three points against the league leaders Livingston but some poor defending on our part and some great saves from Ross Stewart in the Rovers goal mouth dashed those hopes.
Albion Rovers took the lead through Steven Boyd, Scott McBride sent a pin point cross to Steven Boyd who fired home to open the scoring after only 15 minutes. 10 minutes later Airdrie got themselves back in the game when Adam Brown struck from outside the penalty box making it two in two games. Then on the stroke of half time Albion Rovers scored again once again a cross from McBride found boyd who beat both McIntosh and Gorman to fire home Rovers second and what would prove to be the winner.
Airdrie had chances in the second half to equalise but the stalwart Rovers defence stood strong and as mentioned above Ross Stewart pulled off some excellent saves to keep Albion Rovers in the lead.
There is no change at the top of the prediction league as Airdrie throw away the chance to gain some ground on Livingston.
