January 7 2017
We have faced Queens Park three times already this season the first was in the Bet Fred Cup where we drew 3-3 progressing via penalties, Adam Cummings opened the scoring for Queens, then Airdrie replied with three goals one for each of our forwards, Ryan, Brown and finally Russell. Queens Park then replied with two of there own through Aiden Malone and Sean Burns maing it 3-3. Finally Airdrie won the match 8-7 via penalties. A week later we faced Queens Park in the league Airdrie won the match 1 -3 but we scored all four goals - first up was Iaian Russell with a 29th minute penalty, Mark Fitzpatric then got a double one for the Diamonds and one against, then with the last kick of the ball Adam Brown made it 1-3. In October we faced the Spiders for the first time at home and we beat them 4-1, the game had four penalties Iain Russell Scoring three four the Diamonds, Queens Park had one penalty and Ross Millen stuck that away, the only goal that came from open play was scored by Scott Stewart.
So what does all that mean for todays match? Airdrie will no doubt go in to the match as favourites but in three matches against Queens Park they have performed well, when we finally break them down we go on to win the match but it can take time to break them down.
From the prediction league Airdrie fans think our away league record holds up with over 60% of fans thinking we going to see an Airdrie win and if your a betting person we favour a 1-2 away win :)
