Halifax Town do the job with an impressive win over league 2 Cambridge United. With the game even after the half the Shaymen press hard netting two in the second half

The Shaymen come up big in the first round of the FA Cup with a win at the Shay. Steve Foster, Craig Midgley and new signee Neil Ross put the ball in the back of the net for the Shaymen. Cambridge got their loan goal from Shane Tudor. The Shaymen got things going early when Craig Midgley put a perfect pass to Steve Foster in the 6th minute of play. Foster placed the ball off the crossbar and into the net. Cambridge got back into things with Tudors goal to just 10 minutes before the half.
The second half play belonged to the Shaymen. Dean Howell came into the match providing a spark with some quality play. Howell's cross in the 67th minute found its mark as Midgley put a nice header passed the keeper. The match was put out of reach for Cambridge as Neil Ross flicked in a header 6 minutes before the end of the match. South Stand Bar man of the match went to Dean Howell. Next up for the Shaymen in 2nd Round of FA Cup is Chester City.

Next up for Halifax Town Saturday November 20tht Aldershot at the Shay

Carlisle United earned a replay with Bristol Rovers at home as the match ended 1-1on Saturday.

Over in Ireland the lads from Waterford go down Friday night at Shelbourne 2-1. The Blues are 5th in their table Eircom league Premier Division
