Some good news has emerged that Celtic and Rangers could be set to leave the Scottish League this Friday, That is if the English Nationwide will have them.
Good News All Round on Thursday?
The news is big and the news is very new. Rangers and Celtic will be officially asked to join the English Nationwide league next season.
Rangers and Celtic last week held secret talks between Celtic's Chairman Dermot Desmond, Rangers Chairman David Murray and The football Chief Executive of the English nationwide league, Keith Harris.
It is not yet known but it is thought that a formal initiation will be made by a football league club at a meeting which will be held this Thursday.
If this does go ahead then there will be a vote between all the football league teams to see if they want the old firm to join them.
There could still be some objections though if teams don't want Rangers and Celtic to join there league which has happened in the past.
Nationwide League teams may want Celtic and Rangers to join due to the revenue Celtic and Rangers can pull in with there fan's at away games alone.
With the collapse of the ITV digital deal and most nationwide teams running low on money they may call on the old firm to come down to attract a good TV deal and to help bring in more fans at away games.
There could be further objections though in the way of UEFA who have never let other teams from one country to play in the other and nobody sees a reason why UEFA will change now.
The move would be great for teams like Dundee, Livingston, Hibs who could all be fighting for the league each season and we could even see teams like Dundee in the champions league.
After a few season's the Scottish league will get stronger with the more experience in Europe and with big match's each week there will surely be an increase in the much needed gate attendance's which has got teams like Motherwell and Airdrie etc. in the past.
COME ON NATIONWIDE LEAGUE WE KNOW CELTIC AND RANGERS AND HOOLIGANS BUT PLEASE TAKE THEM AWAY FROM US.
