| Recent Cup Form
: On paper, Queen's have had the easier run to this stage by beating Gretna 2-1 at
Hampden, before that epic tie last week up at Forfar where, after finishing 1-1, extra
time left the teams still in the competition at 2-2 before Queen's ultimately triumphed by
6-5 on penalties. Berwick would not have been favourites to progress against either Inverness Caledonian Thistle or Airdrie United, and yet they managed to win both home games in normal time (1-0 and then 2-0) without losing a goal. By comparison, they may see Queen's as an easy touch and may already be thinking that they have a semi-final tie to look forward to. |
||||
| Likely Outcome :
Queen's will start this game as odds on favourites to get knocked out, but that's just the
way they will like it. It means that all the pressure is on Berwick, and the presence of
Neil Inglis, Graham Connell and Johnny Whelan who have all played for both clubs will add
some extra spice to the occasion, as if any more were needed for what is usually an ill
tempered contest going by recent encounters between the sides. Expect cries of "show
us yer medals" to fill the air should Queen's go behind! Although Queen's recent record at Shielfield is pretty impressive with only two defeats in their last 8 visits, did The Spiders use up all their luck in the last round? Having tipped Forfar to win 3-0 and been (fortunately!) completely wrong, here's hoping for a repeat performance. Berwick's Bandits to win 3-0. |
