Sir Alex Ferguson's son, Darren, has lost his job as manager of Peterborough United. Despite leading Posh to back-to-back promotions, the former Reds midfielder has left the club by mutual consent after a poor start to life in the Championship. United can expect a few less friendlies at London Road in the future!

The Red Devils have regularly played pre-season friendlies at Peterborough since Darren Ferguson took the helm at London Road.

However, former Reds midfielder Ferguson has parted company with the Posh with his side sitting bottom of the Championship.

The young Fergie should surely have been given more time to adjust to England’s second tier – especially as he masterminded Peterborough’s impressive rise from the bottom tier with back-to-back promotions.

However, the Scotsman has bee the latest victim of the cut-throat nature of modern football– though director of football Barry Fry has revealed that the 37-year-old has already landed himself a new job.
