FCUM win seven goal thriller to climb table
FCUM win 4-3
October 9 2016
FC United of Manchester won a thrilling Conference North contest on Saturday, squandering a healthy three goal advantage before grabbing a late winner in an amazing seven-goal contest against Alfreton Town.
The Red Rebels pull away from the relegation zone, up to 14th spot, with an important home win against Alfreton, who they climb above.
Kieran Glynn grabbed his first FCUM goal, before Matthew Wolfenden made it two on 11 minutes. George Thomson added to the tally eight minutes before the interval, and thinks looked comfortable for the home side.
However, Karl Marginson’s men were dramatically pegged back. Adam Smith reduced the arrears before the interval, and parity was quickly restored after the break as brad McGowan and Smith again found the target.
However, as the majority of a 2,528 crowd at Broadhurst Park surely feared the most dramatic of comebacks, FC snatched the points in United-esque style, against the face of adversity; making it three unbeaten home games on the bounce.
