A mixed week for the red devils saw a defeat at Stamford Bridge on Monday night in the FA Cup quarter final. The 1-0 reverse means that there will not be a second trip to Wembley for United this season. On Thursday night in a tense game United overcame the Russian side Rostov with a close range goal from Juan Mata. United were indebted to goalkeeper Sergio Romero who made a couple of superb saves late on to preserve the reds' lead.

Next up for United is a trip to the Riverside Stadium when they play Middlesbrough on Sunday at 12.00 noon.

The draw for the next round of the Europa League takes place on Friday morning.
