West Brom v. Manchester United - Match Preview

It's another case of Prentice v. Master this weekend as Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United make the trip to West Bromwhich Albion with a mission to take three points off former United legend Bryan Robson.

Robbo is expected to get a massive reception from the traveling United faithful and so he should, after spending 12 happy and prosperous years at Old Trafford.

The also England legend, earning 90 caps for his country, was Britain's foremost midfielder during the 1980s and represented The Red Devils over 450 times, bagging himself 3 goals shy of the 100 mark. Robson also enjoyed winning 2 Premier League titles, 3 FA Cups and a Cup Winners Cup with The Red Devils.

Robson's former boss, who is still in charge of United after 1000 games, has sung the former Middlesbrough manager's praises, saying: "I'm pleased he's back and he'll do a terrific job at West Brom," 

"I always considered Bryan to be a leader of men. He is his own man, definitely a manager, so being an assistant would not sit well with Bryan. All players have experienced that, with me I'm always there if they need me, but Bryan was a bit different from the rest of the lads." he added.

United's Carrington Training Ground Complex has been virus-stricken recently, with both Neville brothers and Cameroonian midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba all falling victim to the bug. The trio are likely to stay home in Manchester. "Gary is still under the weather, Phil's a bit under the weather and Djemba-Djemba has got a touch of virus." Ferguson confirmed.

Welsh international striker Robert Earnshaw, a signing from Cardiff City, is expected to start the game despite starting on the bench in Albion's 1-1 draw with Arsenal last week. Earnshaw came off the bench to hit home their equaliser.

Robson has requested a similar performance against United, commenting: "I don't want the players to rest on their laurels after their good performance at Arsenal.

"We had a good result at Highbury and we do not want to throw all that hard work away."

"We have got to have a very similar performance against Manchester United if we want to take anything from the game."

ManUtdWeb Prediction: West Brom 0 - United 3: I hope we carry the momentum from midweek's 2-1 win against Lyon in the Champions League into this game. Some think this game will be a walkover, but it is actually a tough fixture. I'm sure quality will prevail.
