Van Nistelrooy to Miss Fenerbahce Clash

Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has lost the race to fitness and will miss Wednesday's Champions League trip to Turkey to face Fenerbahce, according to boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Dutchman was left out of the squad that cruised past Southampton 3-0 on the weekend with a mysterious injury, that later appeared to be a nagging calf problem.

Red Devils boss Ferguson revealed: "Ruud has this injury at the bottom of his calf and it is proving troublesome,"

"We felt we had to leave him out against Southampton and Fenerbahce to try and get him back 100% for the Fulham game." he added.

Holland international Van Nistelrooy has already had his fair share of injuries for the season, missing the opening games with a hernia problem but has managed to bag himself 12 goals in the process.
