Exeter City v. Manchester United - Match Preview

Manchester United make a glittering trip to Exeter on Wednesday to hopefully seal up some unfinished FA Cup business with the Conference side, following a historic goalless draw at Old Trafford.

The Gracians forced a replay out of an embarrassing United side, graced with full-internationals, in a game which Sir Alex Ferguson claimed as 'the worst FA Cup performance' he'd seen.

"In my 18 years at this club that was the worst performance we have ever produced in the FA Cup."

"It is hard to get your head around it. We are all very disappointed. If someone had told me before the game it would be 0-0 I would probably have hit them. I know we played some young players but that is not an excuse, we expect more of them than that."

"The only positive thing we can take out of the game is that we are still in the competition. This is Exeter's day but I will play a much stronger team in the replay and we will not make this mistake again." the Scot said after the game.

However, Ferguson gave his players a session under the infamous 'hairdryer' and demanded his players would pay Exeter more respect in the return leg. "I will take a strong side," revealed the boss. 

More big-named players including Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville may feature, having recovered from injuries. "Ryan is 50/50. He is much better and I will take him with me. Hopefully he'll be alright for the game." confirmed Ferguson.

"Gary is back fit and will play on Wednesday night. He's fine now and has had ten days training. He has been back in training for ten days, we have done all the blood tests and checks. He's perfectly alright now."

With the BBC's cameras present at the game for live television coverage, the tie will prove a major financial benefit for Exeter as well as a great footballing day for the City that will be remembered, whatever the outcome, for years to come.

ManUtdWeb Prediction: Exeter City 1 - 4 Manchester United - I just hope the FA Cup magic won't be in favour of Exeter tomorrow and United stroll comfortably into the 4th round. All the best to Exeter, but I predict a United win!
