Schofield has been SACKED. Oh happy day.

John Schofield has been SACKED as manager of Lincoln City. Following a hugely embarrasing run of results, both he and Deehan have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect. With just 7 wins in 2007, 2 of which have come this season, City have slipped into the relegation zone after 5 straight years in the playoffs,

Schofield and Deehan had been in charge at Sincil Bank since June last season, and all appeared to be going well at first as City were brilliant, scoring goals for fun and went top of the table almost a year ago. Yesterday's defeat at MK Dons came exactly a year after City's 5-0 win at Barnet, that was quickly followed by a 7-1 thumping of Rochdale, and then the table topping win against Swindon.

After that however things started going very badly for the Imps, and just 12 wins in 12 months since then has seen City turn into the division's laughing stock. City have started shipping goals for fun, Bristol Rovers scored 5 at Sincil Bank, Shrewsbury and Donny both put 4 past City at the start of the season, last week Hartlepool stuck 5 in the City net before Sunday's 4-0 defeat at MK Dons.

Reaction from the fans has been one of delight.

David Pickwell said "It was about time that he went, and even though I do feel a bit sorry for him, he wasn't doing a good job and with him we'd have gotten relegated. Ideally I would like Mick Hartford as manager."

Sally Sentence said "That's brilliant news, hopefully now we can get a decent gaffer in and start winning some games."

The news was released at about 4pm, and in that time I have personally spoken to 20 people, each one of them delighted with the sacking.
