Hard working City get City Ground replay

City and Forest will go at it again as the sides played out a 1-1 draw at Sincil Bank. A Marriott blunder allowed Forest an lad midway through the half before the Imps equalised just before half time. City battled hard and were unlucky not to sneak a winner against a Forest side who seemed to come for the draw, now the Imps face a trip to the City ground and hope to progress to the second round.

The visitors started the brighter by winning several corners in the first 10 minutes, fortunately none came to anything and City started to take charge. An N'Guessan cross was dropped by Smith but no-one could react quickly enough to make the mistake costly.

City's first corner was ended when Hone was ajudged to have fouled in the area. Frecklington volley wide before N'Guessan did his best to get a transfer to Arsenal by diving all over the place and pretending he was injured. By this time City had spent more than half the game so far in the Forest half of the pitch....and then Forest took the lead against the run of play.

Kris Commons was played out on the left and sent in a cross, former City player Agogo headed goalwards and Marriott fumbled it several times before palming it straight to McGugan and he had no problem at all plopping it into an open goal from 2 inches out.

That didn't seem to phase City though as Forrester won a corner, unfortunately it came to nothing and the Imps were fortunate not to be 2 down when Agogo headed against the bar. N'Guessan's Arsenal audition continued with another prolonged spell on the floor.

Not soon afterwards good work from the impressive Paul Green saw him swing a cross in from the right, Kevin Wilson stuck out of a leg and it deflected past Smith and City were deservedly level. Forest fans reacted by throwing a flare onto the pitch.

City dominated the remainder of the first half but failed to take the lead before the break.

Much like the first half it was Forest who started better, but City had the first chance when N'Guessan did something productive and had a rasping shot from 25 yards out, Smith barely got to it and forced a corner. Wright headed the corner over.

Dodds' goalbound shot from a Green run was blocked before it could reach the goal but Forest wasted the best chance to retake the lead when Agogo found himself one-on-one with Marriott. He appeared to make a quick decision and ended up hitting the ball wide of the post.

Dodds volleyed wide before Commons hit the bar from 40 yards out. Arron Davies replaced Agogo for the visitors whilst Warlow replaced N'Guessan for City. Frecklington had to be replaced by Amoo after an injury forced him to recieve length treatment.

From this point onwards it was all City but we failed to find a winner and we will go to the City ground in 10 days.
