Reaction to Martin Pembleton's 2007/8

Pembleton was yet another youngster to come out of nowhere and into the first team this season but he didn't have as much impact as some of his fellow youngsters and he only had one game where he actually appeared to do anything, queue the excuse that he's only young.

I think Martin Pembleton's first 6 games for the club haven't been as impressive as most of his fellow youngsters. It seems almost strange that people acted like he was the best thing since sliced bread when he came on against Hereford, that despite him not really doing anything. Infact, that has really been the story of his first team career so far, the game at Chester being the only game where he actually appeared to do anything.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think he was awful but in a similar way to Louis Dodds, he was on the pitch without making any real contribution. I think this could potentially be because he isn't ready for first team football yet, but even though I still don't think he'll be good enough.
I think he did OK.
I'd certainly have him on the bench next season..

I would also argue that tackling is an art in itself. As a Man Utd fan Nathan Im sure you can appreciate that Paul Scholes, great player that he is, still hasnt learnt how to tackle.

Nathan, you make out these two skills are easy to perform but many world class footballers have made a living out these two skills such as your Vieras and Keanes, Kerr is an example at our level
If you think anyone can tackle and passing isn't hard then can't wait to see your performance in the match 2, an England call up beckons?

I didn't say passing isn't hard, what I actually said was that being able to pass the ball better than Jamie Hand isn't the hardest thing to achieve in th world.
Still think you undervalue his contribution, but thats football isn't it, everyone has different opinions, out of all the young lads Pembleton is probs the one that was rushed in more than others and I think after the back end of this season and a good pre-season he could be a very good squad player next season
