Somma stunner cancelled out by Crewe

Davide Somma scored on his debut for the Imps, but the goal wasn't enough to secure victory for the Imps. After a dire first half, the deadlock was broken just after half time and the Imps wasted several chances to make it 2-0 before a late equaliser gave Crewe a share of the points.

Somma became the first player in over a year to score on his debut for City, the irony being that the last player to achieve that was Anthony Elding, whom was on loan from Crewe at the time. Somma's moment came within a minute of the restart as he was played through, smashing it in just off of the post.

It had been an excellent start to a second half that had followed an awful first half. Other than Chris Herd shooting just wide from long range, both sides hit the post but it was otherwise a quiet first half where neither goalkeeper actually made a save.

The Imps had some excellent chances to extend their lead, Drewe Broughton having a header cleared off of the line and Chris Herd hitting a shot straight at Phillips after he had been played through one on one.

Crewe looked down and out, having plenty of shots but none really troubling the Imps, whom were looking like securing their first clean sheet since November. However, the turning point came when Clayton Donaldson came off of the bench. Within a minute he forced Burch to save at his feet.

The visitors started to dominate and it seemed inevitable when they drew level, although many argue it was in suspect chances as Moore appeared to handle before providing Miller with the goal that ended the game.

Nice to see Somma getting some first team games under his belt.

Also nice to see him score for u lot. Hopefully he will do well for you, then sign a contract extention here after having a good loan spell. Lot of potential but just needed games, and after having a couple of injuries both here and at Chesterfield, its been hard for him.

Was brillant again last night fella.
Any chance we can keep him for good?
Scored a cracking again last night and set on up.
Caused the Hereford defence no end of problems with his pace, power and ability.
A very good signing(Sm160)
