City target transfer listed by Peterborough

Sergio Torres' chances of joining the Imps have been increased after it was confirmed he has been transfer listed by Peterborough United. The Argentian impressed during two loan spells earlier this season and Sutton stated that he would be inerested in bringing Torres here permanently.

Torres joined City in September and scored twice in his 658 minutes in a City shirt. Initially joining during Simon Clark's spell in charge, Torres scored the first ever goal in Chris Sutton's management career and impressed Sutton so much that he brought the Argentian back on loan a few weeks later. However, that loan spell ended after an injury in a heated home game with Cheltenham in November.

Sutton said that he would be interested in signing Torres if the opportunity became available and with the midfielder being transfer listed, it gives the indication that Peterborough will release him from his contract at the end of the season.

Torres is joined by Exodus Geoghaghon, Ben Wright (not that one) and Kwesi Appiah on the transfer list.

I'd welcome Torres back but after he had a good few games at championship level will he wants to play league two again? i'd have Geoghaghon aswell but he'll have some championship clubs looking at him after some of his showing this year.

Posh could find it very hard next season, looks like boyd, mclean,CMS,freck etc all set to leave in the summer.

Freck to swansea-1m. anyone know what sell on % we had?

Maybe they will offset the sell on to get Torres? I am sure it was based on profit so as we dont know what they paid for him we will not know how much the sell on will be but I believe it was 15% but am happy to be corrected.

I heard the Swansea rumour too but cannot remember where but saying that Sosa is expected to leave this summer too!!??

Will be happy to get Torres and I think that he would consider as he will be a guaranteed starter.

Geoghan has been told to find a new club and he can leave for free....again correct me if I am wrong.

Big clear out at Posh.......

We did Sid yes cant remember how much though.
Would have both of them here Geoghgohan and Torres.
We lack a giant league 2 defender ever since KA's boys left the club.
We'll see.

Here we go again!
Will we ever get the right man?

From what i'v heard. (forest payed posh 500k just to loan boyd),Another 1m in summer if boyd did enough on loan.

Freck to swansea 1m was reported in january. (some reports say swansea still want freck).

McLean and CMS both linked with PNE.

Pretty sure Geoghaghon was only there because of Mark Cooper, non league defender and made to show in the championship, maybe he could cut it in league 2 but I'll say no for now.

Torres, h ell yes!

Get Torres in now!! Great news that he isn't wanted by P'boro, as it looked like he'd been given another chance there under Gannon. Quality player and huge miss for us after he got injured. Would be a lynch pin of our midfield for next season and would be a genuinely exciting signing. We are massively short in midfield with only Kerr and possibly Keltie looking like they'll be with us next season. The less said about Shane Clarke the better.

I was never overly impressed by Geohaghon. He has a long throw but other than always looked a bit of a donkey.

It amazes me that Kettering's side described his goal against us as a "screamer"......it was 8 yards out and scooped.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

If we had a chance of 1 or the other who would you rather sign? Torres or Saunders?

Wouldn't mind Saunders too mind smiling smiley

So Geoghan has joined the Posh exodus??? Sorry, couldn't resist that. As long as he doesn't come here I don't care....Torres, absolutely let's take him if we can

Sid, one of the hardest questions asked here I think.....for potential re-sale I would have to go for Saunders. Torres is quality though and would definitely want him here if possible.

With Steff saying we are 'splashing the cash' this summer....why not have both and Somma!!!

Am I wrong to be optimistic and a little exited by this summers activity???

I don't we've got much of a chance of signing Saunders permanently. Great young player who is on the fringes of their first team....then again, so was Watts.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

I would sign Torres and Geoghan, we have missed acommanding centre half, and he is far more mobile than Kovacs was.

As for Saunders I hear he is homesick, so I am sure he won't sign.

Torres over Saunders any day of the week for me. Saunders is a good player and probably hasn't been helped by his manager's frankly bizarre decision to play him on the left, often preferring the inept Shane Clarke in the middle, but Torres is one of very few players we had last season who didn't mind getting his foot on the ball and running at people. He also scored a couple of well-taken goals.

Geoghan is just a slightly taller Jude Stirling.
