The Players of 2009/10 : Paul Connor

What can you say about a striker who's only goal in a Lincoln shirt came in a pre-season game against AFC Goole from the Unibond divisions?

I've seen some ineffective strikers down the year at Sincil Bank, Derek Asamoah, Rory May, Dene Cropper.....I could go on. However, none of them have had hopes pinned on them as much as Paul Connor.
Despite only scoring once in pre-season (against a team that are four levels below the Imps), Connor was offered a contract and some fans were saying that our early season issues would be amended once Connor returned from injury. If anything, Connor's return just made it worse.
City headed to Burton having won their last three games. Connor returned that game and the Imps went on to win just 1 of the next 10 games. There was no point in having a striker on the pitch that didn't at least average one shot every game. To only have 11 shots in 17 games is ridiculous.
I'm glad Connor was released, he was more likely to score an own goal than put one in the right end. Again, one of the worst signings that Peter Jackson made.
