Keith Alexander has revealed that striker Simon Yeo is not going anywhere after recent rumours that the troubled striker was being shipped off on a month's loan to Boston United.
Keith Alexander revealed in the echo today that Simon Yeo, who has recently been linked with a loan move to Boston United (the Inbreds), that the troubled striker is not going anywhere.
Yeo revealed last week that he was unhappy about being restricted to substitute apprearances since being sent off against Oxford United on the first day of the season.
His appearances have been restricted due to the arrival of 3 more strikers, Gary Fletcher from Leyton Orient, Marcus Richardson from Hartlepool and Francis Green from Peterborough United. The first two have both scored goals this season although it has been quite a while since Fletcher scored. Francis Green, like Yeo, has been forced to make substitute appearances so far, all 4 of his games so far that he has played in (out of a possible 5) have started on the bench.
Rumours had been circulating that Keith was willing to let Simon out of loan to local rivals Boston but today denied that rumour.
"I've heard these rumours and there's nothing to them at all," said the City boss. "There's no way I would allow a player who is part and parcel of my squad to leave. He's staying here and I want him to fight for his place. He's a big crowd favourite and we all remember the important goals he has scored for us." Source : Lincolnshire Echo.
However, it is still unlikely that Yeo will start a game anytime soon as Keith obviously prefers the partnership of Fletcher and Richardson. Infact, Yeo might soon see himself furthur down the pecking order as he wasn't on the bench of Saturday, instead, Rory May was. Adam Kerley has also started getting some unused substitute appearances and is widely expected to get his debut against Telford in the LDV next week.
