There seems little point in writing a fresh match report, as the Stoke match pretty much followed the pattern of the Crewe match....

If you want to know what happened,and can be bothered click here, Crewe Report and substitute the word " Crewe" with "Stoke"....

Corners galore, goal chances galore, and nothing to show for it all - except the same old excuses. And Tony Pulis admitting that his side were lucky does nothing to ease the pain of defeat. As I repeatedly write (Yawn), the history books will only show we lost....

Akinbiyi scored the only goal of the game - his first goal in twelve - and was lucky to stay on the pitch after appearing to throw a punch at Laville late in the second half. Most of the rest of the match belonged to CCFC....

CCFC did finally get the ball in the net with just minutes left on the clock, but John's effort was ruled out for offside - congratulations to `The Championship' for not bothering to show another necessarily highlight yet again. It's almost as if having to bother with CCFC is a contractually obligatory, necessary annoyance.

As for the after-match interview, well, it might as well have been on tape from the last few times we've managed to take nothing from a match: `The results haven't been good' (No sh*t!), `we should have got a point or won' (But we didn't....), `there were lots of pleasing things' (The result is what matters!), `it will turn' (Exactly when, Mr. Reid?). Expect more of the same if there isn't a positive result versus Watford....

Off to the pub to watch more able footballers (Chelsea-Arsenal), supposedly only one league above CCFC - though in reality, light years away....
