Leeds 4 Birmingham 0
Leeds bounced back from recent poor results, with a stunning 4-0 win over Birmingham yesterday. Leeds started on top, and totally dominated the first half. Playing in a new 3-5-2 formation, Brian McDermotts men ran riot.
Lucas Radebe will be at Elland Road for the Birmingham game a week on Sunday. The Chief is back in the city to promote his new book and will be at at the Elland Road supersotre on Sunday morning before talking in the game.
Reading v Leeds
Leeds will be looking to build on Saturday's excellent win at Bolton, as they visit boss Brian McDermott's old team Reading this evening. With an injury doubt over right back Lee Peltier, there is every chance that we will see Sam Byram back in the squad tonight. Peltier has done well this season, but a groin strain puts his place in doubt. Tom Lees filled in well on Saturday when Peltier limped off, but Byram is back in contention after missing the early part of the season with a hip injury.
Leeds beaten by QPR
Leeds slipped to their first defeat of the season against Championship favourites QPR on Saturday. If I’m honest, it wasn’t a classic, with neither team really peppering the goal. Looking at their team, QPR should walk this league – by a mile. A host of quality, and backed with some decent money, they are rightly the bookies choice to go up.
McCormack - not for sale...but do the board agree???
Ross McCormack’s superb individual goal on Saturday rescued a point for Leeds, but also poised many questions. Whilst the player is clearly desperate to stay, the next week or two could reveal a lot about GFHC and their ambition.
3110 days of Hell!
When Ken Bates finally rode in to the rescue at Leeds United, back on the 21st January 2005, I’ll be first to admit that I was delighted. Here was an outspoken no-nonsense Chairman that could finally stand up the leeches that had plagued Leeds United since our debts were announced. A man that wouldn’t be taken for a ride, or allow our club to be taken for a ride and someone who had money, and contacts to get us back on the road to recovery.
Will Bates deliver final kick to Leeds?
Ken Bates was unexpectedley sacked as Leeds United President a couple of days ago, but in typical Bates style, he's come out fighting. It seems the former Chelsea and Leeds United Chairman has agreed a contract with a private Charter Flight company to ensure he could keep flying to the city over the next three years, at a cost of half a million of pounds...
Leeds new boys impress in friendly.
Leeds played their first pre season game at Farsley on Saturday, and two of the three new signings bagged a goal. Leeds played two completely different teams in each half, as boss Brian McDermott gave the majority of his squad a run out.
