Leeds 2 Crystal Palace 1

Leeds left it late but secured a well deserved 3 points on Saturday. In a game in which they would have been out of sight were it not for Palace keeper Sporoni, they were indebted to Lucciano Becchio for another 3 points.Leeds started well, and should have been in front early. Jonny Howson arched his run superbly and ran through to finish with style - only to be pulled up by a late, and incorrect, linesmans flag.
Not to be deterred, Leeds continued to press - Neil Kilkenny pulling the strings in midfield, with Howson linking up play well. It seemed as though the pressure would tell, but a goal wouldn't come - the best chace coming when Snodgraqss burst down the right, and his cross struck becchio on the shins two yards out. The Argentine couldn't sort his feet out quickly enough, and the ball deflected away - only as far as Max Gradel though, who shot wide from 10m yards.
The visitors were growing in to the game, and Kasper Schmichel saved well with his feet. It was Palace who took the lead though - a run down the right, a cross, and Danns tapped home, just before the break. It nearly got worse - a Darren ambrose freekick superbly saved by Schmichel in the dying seconds.
The second half was all Leeds - Kilkenny having a shot well saved, Becchio's header also saved, although the big striker should have done better. Sub Lloyd Sam was next to go close - his effort tipped wide, whilst Bruce header another opportunity wide. Despite all the chances, Palace looked dangerous on the break - with Vaughan looking a handful. they hit the outside of the post with one counter attack, and Leeds had to concentrate. The two Leeds subs of Ross McCormack and Sam were bopth looking lively, and they were joined by Billy Paynter with 15 to go - a brave move as Simon Grayason went to 3 at the back.
As time was running out - the gamble paid off. Kilkenny's corner was headed by Mcartney, flicked by Paynter, and lashed home by Becchio - queue pandemonium at Elland Road. The game was there to be won, and a lovely move secured the victory. Kilkenny;s pass was flicked on by Snodgrass. McCormack picked up the loose ball, and as he was pulled down, the ball broke to Becchio who fired home. There was still time for Paynter to go close - his shot saved, but Leeds were home and dry, and a deserved 3 points.

i saw the match highlights last night and becchio missed a sitter from 3 yards in first half from snoddy's cross (head in hands) and a missed again in second half from five yards, clear header straight at keeper with no power......both goals looked a bit lucky to me, admittedly the camera angle wasn't totally clear
he works really hard for the team and he's on a good run of goals but i don't think he is a goal scorer and not convinced by him if i'm honest

billy, what a clown you are, reason i watch from the armchair is because i live in singapore, i can assure you my employment status is sound and i'm pretty sure i make more, probably a lot more, than you and rizla combined; but don't worry i don't judge people on what they do for a living (i neither care or am interested) this is a leeds/football site

TCC, he's scored 11 so far this season, I wouldn't call it a fluke or a "good run".
He's proved his worth to the team and he is a valuble member of our system.
And we've had our ups and downs...

yup RG, i'm a c*^t like everyone else on here, but i have to to say a lucky one, if anyone is looking to their future i would say look east, taken me 20 years but in the end it was worth it
