Leeds 1 Bolton 0

Leeds battles to a 1-0 win in a game devoid of any real quality on New Year's Day. It really was a poor game, with neither side looking capable of stringing a decent passage of play together.
The first half was an absolute shocker. Eagles for Bolton came the nearest to scoring when he struck the post, but both sides were desperately dissapointing. These are 2 of the big sides in the division. Leeds have obviously losty their way over the last few years, but are still a big side capable of attracting good players - Bolton are not long out of the Premiership, and many of their side were playing top flight football less than a year ago - yet both looked out of their depth in the Championship!!!
After the break, there was a small improvement - but not a lot! The winning goal was almost predictably a set piece - Lucciano Becchio firing home a penalty after Ross McCormack was fouled. After that? I'd love to report on near misses, stunning passes and goals galore, but alas, it was not to be. Bolton will be wondering how they lost this one, as they probably shaded it - with Leeds creating next to nothing, but somehow Leeds find themselves 2 points outside the playoffs - on this performance (and the shocker at Hull a few days before), they will do well to maintain that...
