Preston end interest in McFadden and Lewis

Preston boss Craig Brown has revealed that he has ended his interest in Fulham's Eddie Lewis and Motherwell's James McFadden.

Lewis looked set to be heading to Deepdale after Fulham agreed a price with Brown, however Lewis and Brown could not agree on personal terms.

Brown is a big fan of McFadden and having had a bid rejected told Motherwell to name their price. It now seems that Motherwell's estimation was a lot higher than what Brown was prepared to pay.

Brown revealed the deals were off to BBC Online. "I don't think either deal is a starter. We made general enquiries about both players but we won't pursue them further.

Brown also hinted that new faces could still arrive before the August 31 deadline. "We are always on the lookout for new players and could bring someone in before the transfer deadline.

"We have a smashing chief scout here and are always looking for good players.

"We are not short of money and I could go for whoever I wanted. But I'm happy with the squad of players I've got and am not desperate to bring new faces in."
