Moore to quit Millmoor

Joe Royle has emerged as the favourite to take over the vacant managers post at Ipswich Town but Ronnie Moore could move to Suffolk this week.

Royle has been out of work for 17 months since his sacking for Manchester City following relegation from the Premier League.

Ipswich are managerless following the sacking of George Burley and the fans are getting frustrated at the delay in the appointment of a new man.

Ronnie Moore was thought to be the man to take over the reins but an 'approach' turned out to be a hoax.

However, anti-Royle songs were heard around Portman Road during Saturday's defeat to Gillingham.

It is also thought that Ipswich could make a 'real' approach for Ronnie Moore next week. An unnamed source at Ipswich told A Funny Old Game: "Rotherham will get a phone call form Mr Sheepshanks in the next few days as to whether they will allow Ronnie to talk.

Moore is highly regarded here and we are confident we can agree a deal with Rotherham".
