Burnley 2 Everton 1

By Burnley FC
October 22 2016

Burnley 2 Everton 1 Scott Arfield's last-minute strike gave Burnley a famous Merseyside win double as Everton joined Liverpool in leaving Turf Moor empty handed.

With Everton eyeing a place in the top four , the Clarets produced a magnificent defensive performance to earn a repeat of the win they enjoyed over the Toffees in their first taste of the Premier League in 2009.

Sam Vokes scored his third goal of the season to give the Clarets a half time lead, following on from the goal he scored in August's 2-0 victory over Liverpool.

Yannick Bolasie equalised 13 minutes into the second half as Everton then began to lay siege to the Burnley goal.

But with Tom Heaton again in outstanding form and the Clarets' defence giving everything for their cause Burnley refused to buckle again.

And in the 90th-minute Sean Dyche's side secured another priceless three points thanks to a wonderfully executed volley from Arfield, whose first goal of the season could not have been better timed.

We're going back down mon ami, our board won't spend the money, just get used to the fact. Life's much more pleasant back where we belong in the Championship anyway, nothing to worry about at all. You'll get used to it soon enough, winning every week, what's not to like ?

Unless Sean decides he's had enough though, then we are in the mire, à bientôt.

I bet you said all last season that we wouldn't get promoted. At what point will you admit that you are wrong again ?

Don't you worry about all those bedwetting, miserable, moaning, neggoe whingers on here chuck, and they know who they are, they don't know jackshit.

Can't be arsed to check back but I think I had us promoted around February last season. Quite a few on here were telling me to wind my neck in, stop tempting fate. No doubt FL will know.
