Blake in Team of Season

Robbie Blake has won himself a place in the Nationwide Football League Team of the Season. The forward, who was overlooked in the PFA Awards, was given a forward place alongside Darrn Huckerby.

Rob Earnshaw and Andy Johnson were given the nod in the PFA team of the season however the Football League have chosen Blake and Huckerby instead of the other two after convincing judges they had had better seasons.

This view is taken after looking at the whole of the season unlike the PFA Awards where votes are cast 2/3 of the way through the season. The judges have been impressed with Robbie and had this to say

"Often overlooked because of his club's lowly position in the table, Blake has been red hot this season. Twenty-two goals for a mid-table side tells its own story, but there is much more to Blake than that. The Middlesbrough-born striker is a joy to partner up front with his clever touches, endless running and unsurpassed link-up play."
