Nicky Weaver has signed on loan for the Owls until 17th December.

The Manchester City stopped was signed by boss Paul Sturrock as cover for David Lucas, who was injured in training today.

Weaver has endured an injury-hit time at City in recent years, and has found trouble breaking back in to the first team with David James in front of him in the pecking order.

Weaver still lives in Sheffield, and supported Wednesday as a boy. He sees the move as a beneficial one for himself aswell as for the club

He said: ''It's a good move for me, espeicially being a Sheffield lad, and hopefully I'll get the chance to show what I can do.''

Manchester City still have a clause in his contract saying he can be recalled to the club if need be.
