As expected and predicted on this site when Brendan Rodgers left for Watford, Paul Clement was appointed today Chelsea’s reserve team coach. In an official statement Chelsea Football Club said, “We are delighted to appoint Paul to reserve team manager. He has proved himself as an excellent manager and coach of the youth team and we were all very proud of their performance last season.
“Our Academy is not just about players progressing through the ranks, the same applies to coaches who we also want to develop from within and Paul’s appointment shows this happens at Chelsea.” Clement said in response to his appointment, “I am very excited by the challenge, I think it was about 15 years ago I started at this club and then came back as Under 16 coach, youth coach and now reserve coach. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for me and a privilege to be in the position, and I am really looking forward to it” In caretaker charge, Paul came up against his brother Neil (who played for Chelsea) when the reserves met up with WBA recently. Paul lost out as the reserves got beat 1-0. Chelsea have yet to announced who will take over Paul’s role as Academy coach. Chelsea also announced today that Jamie Redknapp, son of Harry, cousin of our Super Frank will be coaching at Chelsea for two days a week to help Jamie to get his coaching badges. With the connections that Jamie has got - Frank, Frank Snr and his Dad and the fact he talks a lot of sense as a football pundit on Sky, why can’t he start his coaching career with our Academy U18s? Tomorrow, Friday 12th December, the Academy play West Ham at Cobham in their last game before Christmas and if you can get down to the training ground, the game kicks off at 11am. The reserves last game before Christmas is away to West Ham on Tuesday 16th December and surprise surprise the first team is home to…………… West Ham on Sunday 14th December complete with the return of Franco and Clarkey.
So, who´s going to be the academy coach?

Be quite a coup if he does take over the Academy.
Dermot Drummy (with the greatest respect) who coaches the U16s, his name doesn't inspire none.
