Liverpool Preview - Lampard Is BETTER Than Gerrard
COME ON CHELSEA

January 31 2009
It's revenge time at Anfield on Sunday as an in-form Chelsea team travel to play Liverpool who have scored more draws than a pools coupon in their last ten games, who rode their luck at Stamford Bridge when they ended our unbeaten League record with another jammy lucky goal, now credited as a Bosingwa own goal.
There has always been fierce arguments as to who the better player is between 'Ickle Stevie Gerrard and our own Super Frank Lampard. The following statistic should put to bed that argument once and for all of who is the better player (goals scored per ratio of games played) for their respective clubs: 'Ickle: 111 goals in 469 games (1:4.22) Super Frank: 124 in 402 games (1:3.24) Take a bow Frank, take a bow! Chelsea can take heart in their last five visits to Anfield: three wins, one draw and one defeat and such is Liverpool's 'decline' at the moment, there is no reason why we cannot take another three points and blow Liverpool's title challenge right out of the water. With Rafa's recent 'illogical' outburst and the rant about Fergie, Liverpool have played four, drawn four, scored three goals and conceded three goals and they have the most expensive sub on the bench in the Premiership - Robbie Keane at £20m.

Anyway...
Lampard piiissses all over Gerrard for sheer consistancy alone. Gerrard gets such good press under the scouse loving media umbrella and of course, there are so many anti-Chelsea out there they´d say black was white if necessary.
For a quick example of that, you only have to look back to when the whole country was in Gerrard/Lampard can´t play together for England - Gerrard needs to escape from the shackles of Lampard etc etc blah blah.. and look what happened when Lampard got injured? England were just as poor without him - then when Gerrard was out.....look what happened! The media and a lot of oppo fans all went quiet all of a sudden.
Setanta did a stats thing recently and Lampard was top of all modern day midfielders, Scholes...the lot!
Gerrard is exceptional but Lampard is still ahead of him.

With yet another 1-0 victory for Man Utd (remember how the whole of Fleet St and oppo fans constantly slated us under Mourinho for winning 1-0? Strange that there isn´t the same bandwagon for Man Utd isn´t it?!!!) 5 points behind is as much as it can be allowed to be if either ourselves or Liverpool really have any realistic designs on winning the league. A draw tomorrow for either side isn´t good enough.
Should we lose tomorrow I think I will finally forget or at least hope that we can win another league title - things can change in football when you least expect but still...
Really concerned about us missing Carvalho yet again for a league fixture at Anfield with Torres pace to think about - Alex is no substitute for Carvalho in that sense and seeing as Scolari won´t play Mancienne I´d even prefer Ivanovic to partner Terry.
Drogba or Anelka? 4-3-3 or 4-4-2?
Well I´d prefer Drogba but if Malouda is fit then I think Scolari will start with Anelka and Kalou, and of course, we won´t start with 4-4-2.
If Malouda doesn´t start then with Cole injured that leaves attacking options of Drogba, Anelka, Kalou and Stoch - and Scolari won´t start with Stoch so Anelka out on the wing where he is wasted. I would honestly prefer in that case a front three of Kalou - Drogba - Stoch.
If we score first then the game will open right up and we could win it - or if they score first they will be happy to defend and play on the break and we will have one hell of an uphill struggle.
Off the wall prediciton - Deco will score tomorrow.

to make argument for an AM using
x goals record > y goals record therefore X > Y is imo a deluded narrow view of what is expected from a great midfielder.
a draw would do nicely but I can live with a chelsea win. Any excuse to take out Pool out of the equation for another season. so cmon you slackers!
Again the stats speak for themselves.... say no more

Wow, very negative lopsided view of reality. Just because Lampard has scored more goals per appearence while playing for a team which has won the Premiership twice in recent times with a vastly higher wage structure and transfers funds does not make him the better player. Very disrespectful article as a whole and only shows the author as a very deluded and spiteful person.
