With all the 'so-called' uncertainty hovering over Stamford Bridge in recent days it was nice to think yesterday morning of Chelsea getting off to a fast start - a couple of goals - and then sit back for a goal fest. Didn't it work out well then? Three up inside 20 minutes and then two more crackers added later on in the second-half.
The day didn't get off to the best of starts with the Sunday tabloids splashing across their back pages, Malouda having a right go at Lampard and Ancelotti.
For Lampard being the automatic pick, playing well or not and for Ancelotti not playing Malouda in the 'BIG' games.
Straight after yesterday's victory, Malouda released a statement on the official site clearly stating that he is disgusted with what the papers printed.
He said, "Nothing that you could ready today came out of my mouth. I was really shocked and surprised when I came and we had a meeting at 11.45 when I discovered my words.
"My reaction was to go and talk with manager and talk with Lamps and the meeting was clear. The rest I don't want to talk about that because they did it on purpose and tried to put trouble in our team (thats being going on for years and years, Flo.... Ed). I would say that is disgusting and that is why I am proud of the way we played tonight because that is the best way to answer and to show that we are partners and we are all trying to win things together. me and Lamps have played together in the past and we will play together in the future."
For the record Malouda scored Chelsea's third when a Zhirkov shot bounced off his shin to deflect past an already diving Scott Loach in Watford's goal.
Ancelotti's said in reply, "I spoke with Malouda. I explained my position, he explained his, for me it was finished there.
"There was no problem. It is normal that a player wants to play every game. For us Malouda is an important player and he wants to play important games. For me every game is important and he played a lot of games."
Two players stood out for me yesterday. John Terry was outstanding, leading from the back and from the front. The amount of times he led the charge forward, I lost count.
Danny Sturridge who came to Stamford Bridge with a reputation for arrogance, proved why Chelsea may have to pay £7m for him which is the figure Money Citeh are demanding, scoring twice and causing Watford all sorts of problems with his pace and positioning.
Studge's second goal was a delight. One touch to control with his right foot and then the second touch with his left foot to stab the ball under Loach's body.
Super Frank blasted one in from twenty-five yards and an o.g from John Eustace completed the rout.
Chelsea were drawn to play Preston away in the 4th round. The game to be played during the weekend of 23/24 January.

I am far from surprised that Daniel Sturridge has impressed as I have known about him as an emerging talent since he was at Manchester City, however I am not happy that he chose to justify the rave reviews with two goals against Watford. I wish him the best with his career and would be delighted to see him progress eventually to the England team.

I´ll read your essay at some point although I can´t fathom how fans can change their club - through good or bad my view is that you are bonded for life (bit like having a brother - no matter what he´s like he´s still your brother and nothing will change that). Once it´s in the blood it stays there.
