Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea: Disappointment All Round
Sums It Up
By Since66
November 8 2010
Despite the Boss 'Anco's' warnings pre-match about the danger of Carragher's rent-boy Fernando Torres, JT and Chelsea were beaten for the 2nd time this season on the road, with two quality strikes from Torres one at the beginning of the first-half and the other at the end, the second being the better of the two.
Other disappointments included, Didier Drogba relegated to the bench due to a 'virus,' our lightweight front three, made even lighter with off days for both Salomon Kalou and Nicolas Anelka.
When Drogba eventually came on at the start of the 2nd half, Carragher probably had his best game against Dids including an amazing block on the line, when it looked certain that Didier would score to get Chelsea back in the game.
As usual Chelsea were rubbish in the first-half.
JT allowing Kuyt's cross to float over his head for the on-running Torres to control and then sweep the ball past Cech for the opener.

Again ignoring the pre-match warnings, Torres was allowed to pick the ball up on Chelsea's left and curl a 25 yarder into the bottom left hand corner of a stagnant Cech's net.
Another disappointment for me was that it appeared the Cech had let it all go, once the ball had left Torres's right foot - no movement, rooted to the spot, no even an effort to save.
It was always going to be difficult going to Anfield as I had written in my preview, but Chelsea ultimately made it difficult for themselves, especially in the first-half, and fair play to Liverpool (choke, choke... ED) with all their previous problems, they deserved the win, thanks to the goals of Carragher's rent-boy.
With two successive home games to come against Fulham on Wednesday then Sunderland on Sunday, it is imperative the Double Winners and League leaders pick up SIX points and without conceding a goal.... Now that would be nice!!
Liverpool: Reina, Kelly, Carragher, Skrtel, Konchesky, Meireles (Spearing 90), Lucas, Gerrard (c), Rodriguez, Kuyt (Shelvey 83), Torres (Ngog 87)
Goals: Torres 11, 43
Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic (Bosingwa 69), Alex, Terry (c), Cole, Ramires, Mikel, Zhirkov (Sturridge 75), Kalou (Drogba h/t), Anelka, Malouda
Booked: Zhirkov 19, Alex 90

When I heard the line-up with NO Essien my first reaction was that we were going to be far too light in midfield. We´ve managed fine without Lampard for a while but with Essien missing as well and a half fit Drogba on the bench it was always going to be a struggle.
A very good 2nd half when Liverpool hardly got the ball out of their own half - but no killer punch from us and some stout, well organised, Hodgson-like defending frustrated us.
I´m not too critical of Cech for thier 2nd goal. Torres has this whiplash shooting technique with hardly any backlift which is really handy for when he´s in tight spaces.
This is also a pretty good summary of the game from our perspective:

I'm not a Liverpool fan and have no love-loss with any of them, but I know the difference between ignorance and banter
Many people died at those events, many of them didn't deserve to and families suffered because of it. United had their fair share of loss with Munich
You seem to be simply bitter at the fact that you got your a**es handed to you and that your arrogence can right checks that not even your ploddy gangster owner can cash
You really are THICK THICK THICK aren´t you?!

I was referring to since 66 and his remarks about heysel and Hillsbrough so read before you start calling people thick
Plus what have the scousers or even united for that matter got to be jealous of chelsea for? we've both already shown you up this season

Oh dear, try reading the question
In fact you know what don't bother, wouldnt want you to blow out what brain cell you have left
If you´re going to narrow it down to Chelsea then lets have you narrow it down to Old Trafford area only and name your top players!
You are clueless!
How old are you? 15?
You´ve already been found out with the Man U slip - Typical Sky glory hunter.

Lampard was born in Northeast London, Chelsea are west london, no where near each other. Joe Cole from central, Ashley Cole and John Terry are from East London and might I add, None of them strictly speaking started at Chelsea, not even Terry
Scholes is from Salford, Gary and Phil Neville are from Bury both places located in Greater Manchester, where Old Trafford is
Your ignorance is laughable, you fish for ways around your argument with things like "how old are you" and refuse to directly answer questions
You are a know nothing Cockney douce
now lets just give respect when its due, you aint now or ever in your life time gona be regarded in the same breathe as liverpool or united.

£0 for Nobby Stiles
...and during SAF's reign
£0 for David Beckham
£0 for Paul Scholes
£0 for Ryan Giggs
£0 for Nicky Butt
£0 for Gary Neville
£0 for Phil Neville
face it, you were wrong, you can't answer the question because you know and fear it will damage your pride and ego to admit that you support a small club with no history that has acheived success by buying half the world's talentest footballers

Quote:babes58

Neither were we handed billions - Millions yes! But I´m sure you´d appreciate the mathematical difference between the two is substantial. Of course, it suits you to lie and exaggerate to self-justify your argument.
You DID form part of the major push to tell the Football League to F off and form the Premier League – keeping rich rich and the poor poorer.
You DID form part of G14 – a lobby group to try and ensure that the richest European clubs maintained the largest slice of the financial pie.
You DID at one point sell out publically by becoming a PLC in order to raise money for transfers – removing the words “Football Club” from your club crest.
How many record transfers has your club completed?
Let´s face it, there is hardly anything of the Corinthian spirit and fair play about your club is there?!

Small club? Well we have the 5th highest average attendance in English football league history (I did post this up earlier but you again, dodged the topic). If we are a small club then what you are doing is saying that all the other clubs below us are even smaller – and this accounts for some 120 odd football league clubs. This, in my view, is a tremendous disrespect to these clubs and perfectly illustrates the arrogance of the newbie, sky/Talksport type football fan. Do you seriously believe that there are only 4 clubs in over 130 years of football league history who are/have been big clubs?
History? Well we were formed in 1905 – so that´s over 100 years of history. But of course, what you REALLY mean by history is glory or trophies won! This is your big mistake which unfortunately shows you up for the type of football fan you really are. You are a glory hunter or else why try and change the meaning of the word “History”? You are just too thick to see the paradox!
Please answer this post point by point without continuosly dodging the points made as you have done up until now.
"It is born out of hypocrisy and fundamental insecurity. There have been two kids on the block for the past 12 years. Suddenly, there is a third and that one is threatening to be more successful than the others and they dont like it." P Kenyon.
Yeah I have admitted that we needed someone to come in and bail us out but not on the grounds that you did. We were bailed out to stay in business you were bought so that RA could try and play real life FIFA or pro evo
You have spent an approximate total since abramovich was there of £700million, thats just under £100million per season and you still show no signs of debt despite your profit/loss
The premier league was founded by the existing 22 clubs after the 1991 season had ended, a collection of which your club was involved in
The G14 group was formed in order to give clubs a voice against FIFA and UEFA, we were part of it as the second most successful british team and barring Bayer Leverkusen, it consisted of the world's biggest clubs, how else were the clubs able to speak out against UEFA and FIFA? The fact that the G14 members got alot of revenue from european competition was because they had progressed in the competitions, its not other teams fault that chelsea can only make one final after how many attempts?
I dont have a problem with admitting united have spent alot of money over the past decade or so, but it has been money that we have generated through performances on the pitch and popularity from the public across the world off the pitch, you have bought your success theres no two ways about it
our most expensive transfers were Rio, Veron and Berba...how many have you had well lets see
Schevchenko - £30million
Wright-Phillips - £21million
Crespo - £17million
Mutu - £16million
Drogba - £24million
Carvalho - £25million
you even paid £15million for veron ffs! so dont talk to anyone about spending big you have spent more in the past decade than any team in the league, tho city arent far behind but the difference is they know they are a small club
Only Osgood and Harris won anything of any kind of significance from your club and Ray Wilkins? he won more for us than he did for you
No I didnt dodge the topic at all, I wasnt asking about attendances and on that note does that mean that you are the 5th biggest english club? just because you have high attendances? Newcastle get a full house every game and Leeds aswell, as do United and Liverpool, that argument was based on the fact that your fans walked out on the Sunderland game but every clubs fans do that, its born out of frustration as you have paid alot of money to see your team and they dont show up
None of the clubs below you are as arrogent about their club, chelsea are smaller than Nottingham forrest, everyone knows that so that point about the lower league clubs holds no validation what so ever
You think that being more than a century in business is history? Middlesbrough and Fulham have been around for almost 30 years longer than you lot and they've barely acheived anything
Nobody remembers a club for how old they are...
(Notts County are the oldest in the english football league does that mean they are a massive club?)
...just what your club has acheived and won. Before Abramovich you were just another club who could of only dreamt of making it to were you are now off your own back, something you will never admit.
United have been in the sh*t countless times over this past century and fought their way from obscurity to greatness on 2 seperate occassions without the induction of a billionaire owner. Granted we were bailed out from a second party, but only to keep us in business, not to use as a toy, despite this we were still relegated in 1974 and came back from it
During Liverpool's domination in the 1980's united still won 3 FA cup's and stopped Liverpool from being the first team to win "the treble", we were nothing then, we were the kind of team that despite our history we were content with simply staying in the then first division
SAF came in and despite a tough start, he solved our problems and turned the club into a huge success from within he didnt spend massive amounts on the worlds best players to get were we got, in fact if memory serves me correctly, the only expensive signings we made from 1990-2000 were for Jaap Stam, Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole and they werent 20million+ signings

United havent played brilliantly as of late and I have never said we were, we were better than Wigan and deserved our win but i thought we should have scored more
Nottingham forest are 40 years older than your club and have won every major domestic trophy (if you want to count the first division as the then biggest English trophy you could win), they even have 2 european cups to their name and are one of few clubs to have won 2 in a row as well as the super cup after their first victory

Quote:babes58
The reason people say those kind of things to you is because of your arrogence about your club, Chelsea fans believe they have a devine right to beat everyone and win everything just because of your inherited fortune

I´ve heard it all now!
A Man Utd fan (albeit a newbie glory hunter) saying the WE are arrogant and think we have a divine right to win everything!
POT, KETTLE and BLACK comes to mind!
As for Forest, yes, you´re quite right....but so what? What does it mean? And what´s with the 40 years older than you bit? I thought age of the club meant nothing to you?

You should also take into account that much of the stuff you charge against us is just so utterly pathetic and lacking in substance that it is a bore to have to respond (We don´t have any players that grew up in Chelsea – London doesn´t count according to you, yet in your case outside of Old Trafford is fine! ...just what your club has acheived and won. Before Abramovich you were just another club who could of only dreamt of making it to were you are now off your own back, something you will never admit.
United have been in the sh*t countless times over this past century and fought their way from obscurity to greatness on 2 seperate occassions without the induction of a billionaire owner. Granted we were bailed out from a second party, but only to keep us in business, not to use as a toy, despite this we were still relegated in 1974 and came back from it
Well in the 6 years before Abramvich we were not out of the top six and we had won the Cup Winners Cup and the League Cup. This is actually more successful than Spurs, Villa, Everton and Newcastle combined. Presumably you will rush off to their message boards to tell the how small and insignificant they are?

During Liverpool's domination in the 1980's united still won 3 FA cup's and stopped Liverpool from being the first team to win "the treble", we were nothing then, we were the kind of team that despite our history we were content with simply staying in the then first division
So what´s your point here?

SAF came in and despite a tough start, he solved our problems and turned the club into a huge success from within he didnt spend massive amounts on the worlds best players to get were we got, in fact if memory serves me correctly, the only expensive signings we made from 1990-2000 were for Jaap Stam, Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole and they werent 20million+ signings
You mean to say the likes of Andy Cole weren´t considered expensive at that time? Wasn´t he a record transfer…?

2. Our investors saved the club from going out of business, not so that they could come in and try play Pro Evo with real life
3. You have had record losses over the last 8 years or so, the only reason they dont show is because any debt you have, RA can afford to just toss it out the window without so much as a batted eyelid, very little of it is paid off from your revenue
4. The premiership was formed by the 22 teams, they voted EN MASSE meaning every club voted to form the premierleague premiership formation
5. The bigger clubs would have had higher impact on any subjects in question, you think teams that rarely get european football would be listened to from the powers that be? thats like a cleaner telling an owner how to run a business
6. Yes we did, I have absolutely no problem with admitting that, you however dont seem to be able to do that. The point about all the spending is that United have used THEIR OWN MONEY FROM REVENUE to buy players and to invest in the club, we have had no billionaire come in doing all that for us in one stroke, we did it the proper and respectable way
7. Again yes we have spent a fortune on players, but it was from our own revenue, Abramovich came in and started playing FIFA with real life, it took us 10 years to spend £20million+ on one player and thats after 5/6 prem victories, 1 european cup victory and a couple of cup wins. Your club went from spending £10-20 million on a couple of players to spending £20million+ on one in the space of 2/3 months after abramovich took over - Thats the simple truth, you have been handed the resources to be successful, you have not earned them
8. The question being asked is how many players have chelsea produced that have contributed to your success? now try giving the proper answer
9. God your such an idiot, I said that happens all the time, I know that fans walk out of games before the end when the team is losing, its born out of frustration, when a fan pays as much for a ticket they want to see the team at least turn up not lose miserably. That argument was not mine, I know you sell out your stadium, as do we and alot of clubs I wasnt calling anybodys club for that so dont know what your trying to do with this one
10. Your point holds no substance at all, none of the clubs below you are as arrogent about their club, Chelsea fans talk about their recent success as if you have earned it and not been handed every resource to win trophies without doing anything of significance to earn it
11. OK give me your definition of "having history"
12. No because like I have said many times, fans of those clubs dont share the same deluded sentiment as you, Chelsea fans believe you have earned everything from 2004 onwards and that it had nothing to do with a bottomless billionaire wallet
13. Again its the abramovich factor, before he came in you werent able to spend big without worrying about long/short term financial risks
14. My point here is that United have always had a rich heritage of success, sure we didnt win trophies every season, but even during the bad times we were able to acheive a reasonable amount of success, without the induction of billions of pounds. You lot went from averaging a trophy every 5 years or so, to being considered for everything within the space of 2/3 month. You have not earned your current status, it has been bought and thats a fact that your arrogence will not allow you to achknowledge
15. Thats not the point, the point is that we didnt spend £20million+ on one player during the mid-late nineties despite our success, this is because we were using our own money, not somebody elses, to push the club forward, it meant that we had to worry about long/short term financial risks, we could get away with 1/2 big money flops a season, Chelsea can get away with a full sides worth without worrying about profit/loss
if youd bothered to read my quote at point 15 properly, youd notice I said Cole WAS an expensive signing at that time and was one of only 3 significant big money signings across 5 years

its ok, continue to talk round the subject, your batent ignorance is as clear as day anyway so go ahead, dress it up
Whereas you bought your very existance when naturally you should have folded! TWICE!

but can you really say that us being kept afloat in business terms and then going on to become successful without the use of millions of £, is the same as using money straight up given to you for no reason what so ever and becoming successful because of it?
There have been so many teams bailed out by second parties in order to keep them in business....look at portsmouth recently
The point that you blatently wont achknowledge is that you were handed millions upon millions to spend with no financial repercutions, there was no serious debt at chelsea at the time and no other reason for a billionaire to come in and spend as much as he did
He plain and simply wanted to play Pro Evo with real life but you lot believe that he became a saviour to you and turned you from a small club into a big club
Chelsea are not as big as the likes of united, Liverpool, Real, Barca, AC Milan, Bayern, Ajax etc yet you will always believe that because you have had recent success that you deserve to be achknowledged in that way
Your club and its fans are arrogent and the reason you keep trying to talk around this is because admitting the truth would damage your rediculously inflated ego

Well, its so bloody tiring having to deal with your dodging subjects and adolescent hormonal drivel - but I´ll get back to you on the other stuff shortly....In the meantime,
WHEN HAVE ANY OF US SAID THAT WE DESERVE TO BE MENTIONED OR ARE AS "BIG" AS ANY OF THE CLUBS YOU MENTION ABOVE?!
You really seem to have a complex about us!
Personally, until we win the European Cup (as corrupt as it now is unfortunately) I don´t think we can really call ourselves a really big club.

We didnt became a major force overnight after being bailed out, we still had big financial problems despite being helped out and if you consider our debt that we have had for the past 5 years since the Glazer's took over, its not really the same when you think about it is it?
The reason we became successful is because of our rich heritage of bringing top class young players through our ranks, not buying the worlds best players and having them win trophies and establish us as a major force in all aspects of football, something you lot are completely acustom too
You have been as arrogent in this thread to say that Liverpool dont deserve their history and that it is tainted and shouldnt have happened, You also disregard our history and success by saying that if it hadnt been for some rich guy it wouldnt have happened...by that logic you shouldnt be amongst the favourites to win the CL every season as you havent earned any kind of status nor should you be regarded as one of the "big 4" because you have even less deserved history than Liverpool or United
