Chelsea 3-3 Aston Villa: Hammer House of Horrors aka Cech

I really do not know what was going through the mind of Petr Cech aka Dracula, rooted on his line as Ciaran Clark stole in to glide in a header from an Albrighton cross, minutes after inspirational captain and legend, John Terry gave Chelsea the lead and an unlikely victory. As I write I am still stunned by Cech's decision. There was so much space for him to come out and at least go for the ball either catching, punching or taking Clark out completely.

The rise and fall of emotions of a professional footballer were etched on the face of JT in those last few minutes.

First of all the elation, ecstasy and joy as he smashed Chelsea into lead. Racing up the touchline to jump all over the Boss 'Anco,' to sheer despair and desperation at the final whistle trying not to look at Dracula as he left the field.

I am sure Dracula would have been spoken to by his captain in the dressing-room afterwards.

To be honest a Chelsea win would have been unfair on Villa. We looked too edgy and nervous and gave the ball away on too many occasions, only Ramires looked up for it, challenging back every time he lost the ball, but Chelsea did manage to create the better chances.

Friedel saved brilliantly first from Super Frank and then moments later from Malouda.

A lot of players including Anelka, Ferreira just didn't turn up and it was Ferreira who was culpable for two of Villa's goals.

First Ferreira and Anelka spent too much time down Chelsea's right trying to clear a Villa attack. When Anelka realised the ball wasn't going out, he played the inside to Ferreira whose clearance took a deflection and Essien was penalised for a challenge on Reo-Coker.

Ashley Young delightedly smashed home the equaliser.

Young could have easily been dismissed had the referee taken action on his celebrations - incitement - prior to that he should have been booked for taking out Ashley Cole down Chelsea's left, only a throw was given much to the derision of the MHL faithful.

Ferreira's 2nd contribution came from a mis-directed backpass that Chelsea struggled to clear, the ball fell eventually to Downing who crossed for 'sack of spuds' Heskey to head in from close range.

Chelsea had taken the lead when Super Frank slotted home a penalty after Malouda was jumped all over by Collins, before being bundled on the floor.

Drogba, who was ineffective all game, apart from his equaliser gave Chelsea hope.

Friedel made a blocking save from Drogba's header, the ball returning to the edge of the area, for John Terry to smash home, finishing off the move that he started with one of his swashbuckling runs.

The home fans wild celebrations for an unlikely victory were brought crashing back down to earth - a minute or so later - stunned - as 6ft 5in Petr Cech, suffering from vertigo, aka Dracula, picked the ball out of his net, deep into stoppage time.

so deflated, this is probably my one and only time i would second guess the boss on his selection of Paulo, a real woeful game by him and Drogba does not appear to be right, Anelka looks out of sorts no confidence, sorry for being so deflated but i also think Cech should have been all over that cross, just cant get over this one, the only thing is Utd looked shite yesterday and we gotta play them twice yet and City play the @#$%& this week, not all over yet but today was an emotional rollercoaster, Villa did deserve a point though.

You are not the only one. I do my best to shrug off Chelsea results, but I havent felt like this since we lost to ManUre in the 1994 FA Cup Final 4-0.

Better team for an hour. David Elleray was the referee and gave Utd two dodgey penalties on a rain-soaked Wembley pitch.

It is easier to come for the cross going forward than to have eyes in the back of your head and go backwards, who else would you blame?????

Considering Cech was rooted to his line he did neither - backwards, forwards - come to think of it he didn't even dive.

And it wasn't even a powerful header!

Well Bruma (quite understandably in my opinion) says he wasn't at fault for their third:

"I was marking my man. I think everyone else was, or maybe someone forgot to mark his one," he told Chelsea TV.

He said: "He's a very strong guy. Obviously, when you play against a striker like him, you can't win every ball. You can't come always in front of him, because he's so strong."

"Everyone knows Premier League games are always fast, quick, strong, so if we don't play our game then they will play their game and you will see that they will dominate us," the 19-year-old said.

"It can happen. At the end, we were dominating them again and then you saw that we scored a goal.

"After, I think we should've kept the ball and been strong in the marking because the guy from Villa had a free header."
