Coyne saved peno

deflection for the goal too... however itow 's gonna be hard now to pick up the points!! shite if a ref has stolen us possibley the play offs!!
After halftime when the lino came to check the goal infron of the TRFC fans, he was given a bit of stick anf some banter, you know, the norm. Then for te whole of the second half was cheating blatently. It really was a disgrace. Football has serious problems if there are characters like him officiating. I dont know if that would have had any change in the final result though, it just really spoilt the game.

Ref: Few poor decisions but they were the kind of decisins which Walsall wold have thought were right and we would have too if they had gone our way.

I don't think the ref was too bad - bit of a homer and inconsistent, and we should have had a penalty but it wasn't to be.
We've made it hard for ourselves and we are now going to be relying on other teams slipping up - but its not over until its mathematically impossible.

Little niggling fouls were given their way but not ours, with Kay penalised every time he jumped for the ball. Not sure about Goodison going down, I missed it, but I've heard it was a penalty.
In the end, I'm just absolutely gutted.

Thought we did well second half and were hit by what was a great winning goal to be fair by the substitute.
It looks bleak now with Leeds finding form but I wouldn't put it past us to finally beat Forest on Saturday and then hopes will rise again!
A costly day in all in all but a good day out yet again!

The penaltie was right - overall the ref was decentish. He was just inconsistent which is very annoying - and he was also giving far to much stuff to them rather than us.
I also can't believe we never got a penalty for the foul on Goodison - absolute disgrace.

Six of one, half a dozen of another
Kay got penalised for a couple of fouls in the air when he was just fairly won the ball and got a better leap
Then Zola would get penalised for shoulder barging one of the players when it was a 50.50 ball to be won simply using his strength.
Kevin Betsy was rightly abused by most of our fans because he made a meal of the Goodison incident. And I thought the post match comments by Richard Money was based on watching a different game because if they're home support is like that every weekend then its shite.
And I dont think it was a pen. I know you be saying i am bias but i think the only way he was going to catch up to Betsy was to try and put him off his stride because by the time the ball was played Chorley either let him go through or risk putting his arm around him and to try and poke the ball away which he did but the Ref at the angle he was, was only likely to see arms around Betsy.
He was last man so the ref had to give a red.
The penalty itself was a poor one from Mooney and a good height for Coyne to parry away.
There first goal was very scrappy and just unfortunate to come off Sherriff's arm.
Our goal like many of us said came to early in the match but at the time we were on top until that penalty incident and i couldnt see them scoring but i did feel we needed a second to get that daylight between us and them and further knock them off there stride.
Superb cross from Andy and Myrie was there with a fantastic header.
I thought after Coyne had saved that Penalty it was fate for us to come away with the three points but it wasnt to be.
We derserved atleast a point and the SWA kept with the team throughout singing their hearts out.
There security was put under scrutiny today with the ease at which fans could get on the pitch
Stewards were too afriad to simply do there job but what do expect when someone is f'in and blinding in your face and some of the supporters were egging him on to "deck him"
Overall i still believe we can make it and though people say its out of our hands in a way it still in our hands who gets there with Forest and Southend still to play.
760 fans with a good day out.
We'll bounce back

As soon as he has his arms wrapped around him its a foul, whether its inside or outside the box.

We then went into the match and we started brilliantly. The goal was expertly worked. A good one two from the throw in and then a quite sublime cross from Andy Taylor to Myrie-Williams (or Myra Williams as our fans think he's called) who did well to beat his man in the air and put a terrific header in the corner of the net. It was almost too good to be true, and in the end it would prove that way.
After the goal, the game was pretty even. Both sides had chances although they were the only team who had a real sustained spell of pressure, this coming just after we'd scored where they had a couple of corners.
Niether side though had any clear cut chances. Taylor was doing his best to create some with some brilliant runs but a lack of end product whilst the same could be said for them, although Betsy's diving antics didn't really help them.
We kept the game tight in midfield whilst the defence was doing really well. Chorley had been the man of the match for me, up until his sending off, winning some great headers and makings some good tackles too. I also thought he was making an effort not to hoof the ball forward as much either, instead passing the ball out of trouble. Robbie Stockdale also made what I think was the tackle of the season to stop their man early on whilst Goodison was doing well also.
However, when the sending off came, it completely changed the game. As I've said elsewhere, I don't think it was a penalty, I think Betsy went down far too easily but Chorley didn't really need to raise his arms. Danny then made a terrific save and still all was good. It could indeed only get worse from here.
The defending for their first was appauling. We didn't clear the ball and were then slow to get out. I don't think Sherriff could do anything about it but Danny had already dived and had no chance of getting it. A real piece of bad luck.
When the players came out for the second half, they just didn't look as up for it as they had been an hour before hand. Five seconds in they lost the ball and didn't try to get it back. They didn't seem bothered.
With only ten men now, they were always going to stretch us. They saw a lot more of the ball and now completely dominated for about 20 minutes. We let them get too many crosses into the box and they were having chance after chance, the goal was inevitable.
Their goal did seem to give us a bit of the kick up the @#$%& though and we looked a better side for it. We pushed forward with more vigour and were it not for some desperately poor decisions by the referee and his linesman, we might have had more chances to win it.
I missed the tackle on Goodison, I had followed the ball, but I'm told it should have been a penalty and that Goodison's tackle on their man fifteen minutes later was very similar, though they got a free-kick for it. We can't judge the offside against Greenacre but it would have been interesting if he hadn't been offside whilst Zola and Kay got nothing: everytime they jumped it was a foul against them whilst Zola wasn't allowed to go near the ball or the linesman gave a foul against him.
The one thing that dissapointed me most about today was our set-pieces. They were woeful. Even when Kay was on, we couldn't win the ball, with McLaren all too often failing to beat the first man. We had our chances late on with two or three free-kicks but they were just wasted.
We had a couple of chances in the second half. Moore dragged one wide whilst one ball fell to Goodison who placed it wide. Honestly, it could have fallen to anybody else on the pitch (well, perhaps not Stockdale) and they would have scored, but Goodison just couldn't.
At the end of the day, I thought they deserved the win, BUT if we had kept eleven men on the pitch I think we would have won, that's the way it was going.
They defended well, especially late on, closing down our man everytime he had the ball/the ball came near him, whilst they had the best chances and profited from two poor defensive errors to score.
I thought we played well on the main, with Coyne making some great saves and being alert through-out, whilst McLaren, bar his set-pieces, was excellent, smashing some excellent passes about the place. Andy Taylor was my man of the match though, I thought he was immense. He got forward well and defended well too, bar letting their lad free in the last minute when we had pushed everybody bar the goalkeeper forward!
In the end though, this match reminds me of a very similar one 364 days ago when we lost 3-2 at Blackpool. That ended our play-off challange, lets hope this doesn't.
I'm feeling very down after this result but I'm still confident we can give the play-offs a big push. We'll have to give it all we've got and we have to pick up at least ten points from the remaining games, which will not be easy, but lets see what we're made of.
infact was that when Howarth played.... possibley for the last time?
