Post-Match Moore - Moore's Views on Hartlepool Win

Following yesterday's 1-0 home win over Hartlepool United, Ronnie Moore praised Ian Goodison and goalscorer Craig Curran who both had a big hand in ensuring that the Whites got their home campaign for 2008/09 off to a winning start after last weeks disappointing opener at Swindon.

Speaking after his side's 1-0 win over Hartlepool United at Prenton Park, Rovers Boss Ronnie Moore praised the finishing of striker Craig Curran whose single goal was enough to take the points.

"I think overall we had enough of the game and deserved to win it. The pleasing thing was the clean sheet and the number of bodies we go in the way when they had shots."

"We were maybe a bit fortunate to come in at 1-0 up, but it was one of those days when we dug deep.  Eddy had a chance, Goody had a chance and the offside goal must have been very close."           

"It was a great finish from Craig, he took it early so their keeper wasn't set.  It was a nice move to be fair. The three lads up front have worked hard. Sonko is going to score sooner or later, he caused them problems and gets in there."

"Ian's (Goodison) been the man again today.  He got headers in when he had to, he defended when he had to.  Long may that continue, let's hope he doesn't get sent off any more."

"Kaysy (Antony Kay)reads the game well, he's good on the ball.  We still need a bit of discipline in there, he's doing his and the other two are flying all over the place and not getting back when they need to. But it will come. Everything doesn't happen overnight."

"Ian's the Club Captain and Kaysy's the Team Captain.  The Respect initiative means the referee will speak to players more and I think the communication is better for us if Kaysy does that and Ian leads by example.
