Ronnie Moore's Pre-Peterborough Thoughts

Ronnie Moore today gave his pre-match thoughts ahead of the FA Cup second round replay against Peterborough United tomorrow night at Prenton park after the first game ended 0-0 at London Road ten days ago. The winners of the tie will face West Bromwich Albion away in January in the third round.

Tranmere Rovers Manager Ronnie Moore has today spoken about how excited he his at the prospect of playing Premier League outfit West Brom, but admitted Peterborough is going to be tough to get past first.

Tranmere, who have beaten Accrington Stanley so far to get to this round and drawn away at London Road, do not have a fully fit squad with key players Chris Greenacre out and on-loan Mark Wilson out of contention amongst others.

Ronnie Moore told the Tranmere Rovers Official Website:

"It's a match that could go on quite a while, there's not a great deal between the sides as the two occasions we've played this season have proved.  You certainly wouldn't rule out extra time or penalties, which both teams could probably do without."

"It may take a majestic strike or something out of the blue to decide the game. In Mackail-Smith, McLean and Boyd, Peterborough have great attacking strength, they're not far off being the best at this level.  But if we have the same type of performance we had in the first tie but with putting the ball in the back of the net we should be OK."

"It's a nice incentive for the players, the chance to play at West Brom in the Third Round.  It's a nice stadium and a Premier League side. They're not pulling any trees up at the moment, so it's a game both us and Peterborough would think we've got a chance in.  But we've got to get past Peterborough first."

Meanwhile Ronnie also mentioned that on loan Middlesbrough right back John Johnson is ruled out due to not having permission to play in the cup by Middlesbrough.

Moore added.......

"Greenacre is out.  Johnson and Wilson can't play, which means there will be a couple of changes for us. We can stay the way we were on Saturday or I can throw Ian up front and bring Shuker in and go as a 4-4-2. We've got options, it's just up to me to make my mind up on what system we go with."
