Striker Terry Gornell could return to Accrington Stanley on loan in January and may even be in line for a permanent move to the Fraser Eagle Stadium in the summer if his current deal with Rovers is not extended in June when it is currently due to expire.
Tranmere Rovers striker Terry Gornell looks set to return to Accrington Stanley on loan in January and possibly on a free at the end of the season if Rovers decide not to negotiate a new contract with the youngster.
Gornell, who has been linked with moves to Everton and Bolton this summer has been impressive at reserve level.
Gornell scored four times during his time at Stanley becoming a fans favourite. However since returning to Prenton Park, Gornell has made a couple of appearances for Rovers but hasn't done enough to secure a first team place regularly.
Gornell has impressed though with his work rate however has missed a few important chances especially at Peterborough in the FA Cup at London Road.
The Stanley chairman told the Accrington Observer:
"He has been on the bench for Tranmere in the last few games but there is a strong possibility that we can work things out with the club and the player to bring him back at some stage - either for the rest of this season or next season,"
"It does depend if Tranmere offer him a new deal and what the player wants but we would like to have him back here."

Would be a very bad move to let him go. We're not scoring goals at the moment so why not change things up front and play him and Bas from the start for a run of 5 games or so? Players aren't being given the chance here far too often and we're not getting the best out of players. I feel Ronnie needs to drop the players who aren't performing regardless of what they've done in the past and give everyone in the squad an equal chance. If you've got 4 strikers, if they aren't performing change the personnel after a run of 5 or so games. It is pretty frustrating the amount of games Gareth Edds has had this season when he's been@#$%&for the most part when there are players who haven't done anything wrong who don't get a look in. Had Ronnie been in charge for the last 7 or so years I don't think we would have had players like Koumas, Taylor and Hume through the ranks, I don't think we'll see any big sales during his tenure. Would be interested to hear the views of others on this.
Gornell is a class act. Ive watched him for a while, and he has more to his game than Macauley. Macauley is in a rich run of form at the moment, hes on fire. They are both fine young players. Macauley needs to show his current form over a longer period before he moves ahead of Gornell. Unfortunately neither are likely to be given a chance by Moore, which is sad.
Going back to Accrington would be a good move for Gornell, guarenteed first team football, and room for Macauley to develop.
gornell is a class act i agree give the lad a run in the side and the fans will see what a good player he is ive also heard there are a few big clubs intrested in the lad as he can go on a free transfer this summer the steve davies saga springs to mind we should tie him up now
Tranmere should have learnt before the Steve Davies saga as the same thing happened with Alan Mahon and I may be wrong on this but also Joe Murphy before them, the same chairman is reluctant to give young players a contract they are probably worth at the time and unfortunately, the players are given more money elsewhere and leave for pennies. Hopefully with Rogers leaving at the end of the season, we can progress again. I hope PJ finds an interest in us again because I think with a few hundred thousand well spent in this league, it wouldn't be so tough to get out of this league. Its not good players we lack, it's consistent players and a strong squad where we've struggled the last couple of years I feel. With our squad we've got 5 or 6 players who, if they are out, the reserves either are not good enough or aren't given the chance to impress in their preferred positions in my opinion which is a shame. Not sure if this is a lack of depth in the squad or a manager who is unwilling to take a chance on the clubs youth setup or a combination of the two!?
