Apprentice Keeper Handed Monthly Award

Tranmere's goalkeeping apprentice Peter Kennedy won a monthly award from the League Football Education before Christmas when he was voted the Apprentice of the Month for November - an award which is another encouraging sign for the Tranmere youth setup.

Tranmere youth team goalkeeper Peter Kennedy had an extra reason to celebrate over the Christmas period after being handed the League Football Education's Apprentice of the Month Award for November.

The Keeper has featured heavily in Rovers' success in the FA Youth Cup so far this season and has also been at Colwyn Bay FC, playing for the first team on one occasion so far.

The League Football Education Website reports....

The young goalkeeper has made tremendous strides in his personal development this year featuring regularly for the Youth and Reserve teams while conceding very few goals and crucially lending a hand in Tranmere's FA Youth Cup campaign that has so far seen them record away successes at Darlington, Solihull Moors and Northampton Town.

Peter has been commended by the Club for assisting the Clubs long serving goalkeeping player/coach and Centre of Excellence coach John Achterberg, in taking sessions twice a week at the Centre which Peter organises himself.

The teenage shot-stopper also referees at Centre of Excellence fixtures on Sunday mornings as he is a qualified referee and this has proved popular with both players and parents.

Off the pitch Peter is making steady progress through his academic work and after recently being loaned to Unibond League Club Colwyn Bay FC, he has kept on top of his studies and is on target to achieve the full ASE framework.

In response to Kennedy's success in winning the Award, Tranmere's Youth Development Officer, Warwick Rimmer told the League Football Education Website....

"For experience we loaned Peter to Colwyn Bay for a game.  He played well, kept a clean sheet and they won the game.  He takes it all in his stride and is so consistent in his behaviour we feel he deserves this award."

Total Tranmere would like to belatedly congratulate Peter for the award and look forward to following his Rovers career.

hey mate what game where you watching hey ??????

the young dynamic goalkeeper had a good game, the score did not reflect the performance of the whole team.

The boys gave 100% and the fans should be proud of there efforts, the game was entertaining to watch, was proud to be supporter that night

I don't think Matt questioned the effort of the team to be fair and we both agreed that the effort was superb that night!

They were unlucky to lose they really were!

Yes i remember going to a reserve game against Chester and watched Jo Hart in goal.That day i watched him let four in and saved a pen no and thought he was crap. And then the next min he in goal for Man City so you never call tell when there young. Good luck to the lad

Peter Kennedy is a very good goalkeeper. He's a terrific shot stopper, very vocal and organises his defence well.

He did however drop two shots/crosses vs. Waterloo Dock that cost us goals. Just one bad game, nothing more. I still rate him very highly.
