Millwall Match Discussion Thread

If you're unable to make the trip to Millwall on Saturday afternoon, why not discuss the game right here as Tranmere play their first game of 2009 following back-to-back postponements in recent weeks due to the cold spell of weather which obliterated the Football League schedule.

At Total Tranmere, we always like to take note of feedback from the users of the site and respond to it in the best way we can.  One thing we have picked up on more recently is that after Tranmere games there seem to be a lot of different threads that get started about the same game.

As a result of this feedback, from now on we will be providing Match Discussion Threads for every occasion when Tranmere play.

Tranmere are of course playing away at Millwall on Saturday afternoon in Coca-Cola League One so if you're not going to the game, why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on and even discuss the team news and build up to the game beforehand too?

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.  Or why not post the line-ups or anything else you can think of.

You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores in League One as well.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Predictions for score, team and Tranmere attendance tomorrow?

I'm going for 2-1 Millwall. The Tranmere team will be..

Coyne

Shotton
Chorley
Goodison
Taylor

Shuker
Jennings
Kay
Sonko

Moore
Savage

The only alternative to that might be Edds instead of Sonko and a 4-5-1 formation (with Moore on the wing) but I hope that isn't the case!

Tranmere Fans = 325

Thoughts?

Gone for Kay and 1-1 at 65/1. Point would be great today and three would be superb. Come on you whites

Lost 1-0 but apparently played very well. Heard it all before.

Again a lack of use of the substitutes, despite the options on the bench, Gornell, Cresswell and Barnett, who could all come on and make a difference.

Millwall are a good team though I guess we shouldn't be too dissapointed.

I was listening on radio, and in the first half it said Chorley had a great turn and half volley attempt which the keeper tiped over, and there were many other decent chances esp from corner situations.

Only going by the radio, will wait till someone attended the game comes and discusses the game in full.

We were very unlucky to lose today, and if anything were the better team. The fact Ronnie didn't stick any of the subs on is more a measure of how well the lads were playing rather than his lack of ability to try and influence the course of a game. It was great to have Ryan Shotton back. He's clearly been training with Delap because his long throw is a very useful weapon. Big Baz ran his cojones off again despite all the abuse he got from the home fans. I've seen us at Peterborough (league) and Orient this season as well as Leeds at PP and this was our best performance. Very frustrating. Ronnie should stick to the same 11 next Saturday

In my opinion he shouldn't stick with it.

Taylor was dreadful AGAIN. He hasn't played well in a long time and it's about time that Cressa was given a go. Seriously when was the last time Taylor had a good game? I'm not usually the one to call for a player to be dropped but I think dropping Andy might wake him up a bit.

Ryan was pretty good and t was nice to see him back in Tranmere colours. He looks to have been working on his throws, he reached the peno spot with the one at the end =D

As Troupy said Bas ran his socks off but WE NEED A GOALSCORER. As much as Bas Savage is a good player, he is not a goalscorer and it is in that department that we are lacking right now. Bas needs someone who can finish alongside him.

One thing that gets me with Ronnie though is his lack of switching it around when we are down. When we went 1-0 down we should have taken off Shuker and brought on Gornell and gone 4-3-3 if you ask me. We need to start taking risks to try and get things out of the games when we go behind.

I agree we were unlucky today. Was a decent game with plenty of banter between the fans, especially the Millwall fan in white. I even got chanted at...hence the nickname =P

I agree totally Troupy with what you said and have to disagree with parts of what W4nk3r said but not all of it (nice name by the way - I wonder what made you be called thatwinking smiley)

Basically we dominated the game for long spells and as Troupy says we could still have got back in it without the substitutions and at the time I didn't particularly think we needed to make them.

Looking back now though we had Barnett who could also have come on and Cresswell could have been given a go for Taylor. If I had made any changes I'd have taken off Sonko and moved Shuker out wide with Gornell upfront

The reason we lost though was failing to shoot (again) in the right positions and not taking chances. Ben Chorley's overhead kick would have been goal of the season and it was a great save by their Keeper!

Kay was Man of the Match by a long way with great performances also from Savage (Wooo!) and Chorley as well.

Shotton made a decent return and as Troupy said, he suddenly looks able to throw it long properly and caused them some real problems at times.

Taylor wasn't great again whilst Jennings and Moore also disappointed but despite that we could and should have won. A draw may have been fair but to lose was totally unjust!
