A product of the
Tranmere Rovers youth team, Joe Collister signed his first professional
contract in July 2009, penning a two-year deal aged just seventeen.
The youngster impressed hugely during Rovers’ pre-season last summer, particularly when starting in goal against Preston North End at Prenton Park, when he saved a penalty and pulled off several spectacular saves.
The goalkeeper then made his first team debut during the 2009/10 season when he came on as a half-time substitute for the injured Luke Daniels and then made his full-debut a week later when he played the full 90 minutes against Exeter City, with Rovers losing the game 2-1.
Collister made three appearances in total during the 2009/10 campaign, and he will be hoping to further his first team experience this season, should the chance arise.

Despite not being the tallest of ‘keepers, Collister is an agile player capable of pulling off some excellent saves at the most unlikely moments.
Collister follows in the footsteps of Danny Coyne, Steve Simonson and Joe Murphy, all players who have been graduates of Rovers’ Centre of Excellence and played for the club before going on to play consistently at a higher level after leaving the Wirral.
