Tranmere's Reserves played out a relatively comfortable win over Wrexham Reserves on Tuesday evening with prolific goalscorer Cole Stockton on target in each half with two excellent finishes.....

Tranmere Res 2 - 0 Wrexham Res
Cole Stockton 12 and 80

Tranmere's Reserves side were victorious for the first time this season in the League on Tuesday evening against a Wrexham Reserve side who went into the game seven points and four places above Rovers in the Table thanks to a brace from in form striker Cole Stockton.
Shaun Garnett's side was made up of a mixture of both youth and first team squad members as follows...
Collister
Darville Cathalina Vaulks Bakayogo
Morrow Benson Power Fraughan
Stockton Claire
So with the return to action of Liam Darville and an appearance for Liverpool player Karl Claire, it was a chance for a few first team fringe players to prove their worth and although the game got off to a quiet start it was Rovers who looked the better side early on with Fraughan and Stockton linking up well for a couple of early chances.
Rovers took the lead in the 12th minute of the game thanks to a superb low finish from Cole Stockton who has recently scored a number of goals for the youth team.
Shortly after Rovers took the lead, Collister spilled an angled striker by the Wrexham striker but the ball was cleared away before it went out for a corner and shortly afterwards Collister saved well from another fairly long distance effort.
Half-Time: Tranmere Reserves 1
- 0 Wrexham
Reserves
In the second half, Rovers replaced Liam Darville with Connor Roberts with Cathalina moving from centre-back to right-back in Darville's place and Liam Benson moving to centre-back in favour of Roberts.
Rovers continued to have the better of the game with Roberts spraying a couple of long balls out wide to find Ryan Fraughan but it was from a cross by Sam Morrow that created he second goal of the game. As the ball was swung in, Cole Stockton was there to power home a bullet header - his second great goal of the game.
Wrexham hit the bar late on and Joe Collister was forced into a save to keep Rovers two goals ahead but Wrexham were also guilty of a few wasteful chances late on as Rovers held on for a deserved win - their first of the season.
Full-Time: Tranmere Reserves 2 - 0 Wrexham Reserves

Ryan Fraughan
Although Stockton looked a threat all night, it was Ryan Fraughan who stood out the most and created the second goal with a perfect cross for Cole to head in as well as having a couple of other late runs into the penalty area.

Another proof positive reminder, of what the Garnett and Ebrell leadership is helping to achieve, with the youth at the CoE.
Imagine Stockton in a 4-4-2 with Showunmi. Everyone could one day be hailing the new strike pairing, simply known as Stockwunmi

it was a good game, Tim looked better.
good cross by Morrow for Stockton to score his second.
the ressies play better football than the first team, if Les ever walked away Garnett would be a worth a shout.

THe reserves were always better than the first team. Used to get 800 specs at times and £2 was better than £7 for the first team.
It's nice to know that Les has a qualification he has worked for because departing from his job here wont bother him.
I go along with the Garnet bit too.
Quote:No the resrve Manager whos name escapes me was manager last night !
