tough game im going for 1 0 win norwood scoring

tough and boring today

Should have had the game won by halftime enough chances to have been at least 2-0.

I was warned about Lincoln prior to the game and it was spot on.

I just wasn't prepared for Rhead what a donkey, if you can't take it don't dish it out.

Felt we lost our way second half. Officials again an embarrassment, they seem to be getting poorer and poorer each game.

Agreed we had plenty of chances to win it. Stonewall penalty, poor officials again.
Thought we were flat after mekki went off, Jackson I thought had a poor game again, sat to deep for my liking for most of second half.

One of those days today. On another day we'd have had four or five but lots of positives including McNulty, the partnership of Norwood and GTF and I thought Jackson showed good crossing ability.

How we didn't win I don't know! We go again on Tuesday!

Also I can't fathom the mentality of some of our fans at all...

Jackson was seemingly booed ON to the pitch (disgraceful) and the boos at the end of an entertaining game were bizarre!

No wonder we do better away from home!

Agreed. Poor show booing today, we did play ok especially when the ball was on the floor, bit frustrating but not down to us down to officials. Another day we could have had 4 goals.
I do think we need to start converting good chances into goals.

We created more than enough chances to win and I thought it was a decent performance all round.

On a more worrying note, the elbows were flying around again today, someone is going to get seriously hurt and the officials seem unconcerned every game.

He was and, like you, I thought he was pretty good today. Some dangerous balls in, was prepared to take players on and beat them. There was one point in the second half when he beat two players and was looking round for someone to give the ball to, but no one had made a move so he had to try and take on the next man. That's on his team mates not makin themselves available, not him.

For a physical side Lincoln didn't half go to ground easily. Their whole game plan seemed to be win a free kick and hoof it forward. It caused us problems in the first half but we seemed to getbit under control from then. Officials were very poor again, some decisions were mind boggling. We had more than enough opportunities to win the game. Jennings I thought played well.

When one or two people boo it sounds out louder. There was only a couple of boos, which I agree is mind boggling.

I think at the end of the game the boos were for the officials as most of crowd applauded the lads off.

I thought Jackson had a good game, which was a nice surprise. Also thought McNulty showed he can dish it out as well which is what we need in this league as the officials are obviously all on the weed.

I have to say that I don't rate Jackson at all and thought it was like we were playing with ten and a half men after he came on the pitch.

You're right about the booing though-that's one reason why we're far from out of this cup tie at this stage.

Did you see the screaming ginger haired dervish who left with his mate about five minutes from the end yelling abuse at Brabin and our bench-we can do without people like him for starters.

Unlike Mekki and Dawson though, Jackson proved today that he is able to cross a ball. Him and Maynard seem the only ones capable.

If anyone made it ten and half men it wasn't Jackson for me - it was the guy wearing 15. But we kept a clean sheet so hard to be harsh even on him. Sutton in for Tuesday for me!

A tough tough game against what seemed like a team of giants who are very effective [but not pretty to watch]
at playing the way they do[but I'd rather watch them than Eastleigh[spit] any day of the week].

We created and missed a fair few chances and were much better when we played it on the floor than up in the air.This WAS a match that we could also have lost[due to Lincoln's playing style]and we have just as good a chance at their place as at ours.


The penalty that wasn't given was one of the most stonewall I have ever seen-the assistant's beard must have blown into his line of vision for him not to have seen it-totally bewildering really.

I would agree that Riley looked poor today Sub. The Imps forwards owned him in the first half, though he did seem to get better. I still think Matt Hill's distribution is terrible as well.

Jackson is good at crossing the ball to where our other forwards aren't. The guy wearing 15 was fine considering he had the man mountain to deal with.

To be fair Riley settled second half but first half he looked all over the place!

Has no-one else noticed until now that the title of this story/thread says Lincoln away?

For such a big guy it seemed only to require a puff of wind for him to fall over and hold his face. Cue the miraculous recoveries......

I am flabbergasted just discovered Rhead has scored 11 goals this season.

I assume most have come at Sincil Bank following a continual aerial bombardment.

Just been looking at their site.

Whilst they are sticking up for him as you would expect, not one of the posts actual refuted the suggestion that he was in fact a donkey.

The penalty for me was a game changer in some ways, because Tranmere did do enough to win it, but at least it wasn't a what if kind of game, where you have the chances to do it and then lose.

Tusesday should be interesting, but with a player Taylor-Fletcher in the side, there should be plenty of hope for a win, because he might just be the added touch of class that seals the deal on a first round game.

Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

still don't think the Jenno / Harris combination in midfield is working, I'd have Maynard in midfield with Harris every time.

i got full match commentary on BBC radio lincolnshire. the first half sounded better than the second half for rovers. even the lincoln commentator and his summarizer said that it was 100% a penalty.

The Lincoln fans will probably be thinking that getting us back to their place is half the job done but let's face it we are so much better away from home that we probably have more of a chance now than we did before of progressing!

A tough game against a dirty Lincoln team, and very dodgy officials. We do need a another right winger , Jackson seems to go past one and then always takes a touch too many and runs into others. Thought McNulty is a calming influence and Talyor fletcher has a different class with his super quick feet . Think there might be a few cards at the replay.

THe result was disappionting given the goal-scoring opportunities created. I don't normally criticise match officials because they have a difficult job trying to control the game, in the knowledge that they are dealing with players who are not bothered about fair play, but only interested in decisions given in their favour. However, how the officials missed the blatant shirt-pull on our No 9 is unbelievable. An absolute blantant penalty.

Thought was an ok g teams had quite a few decent chances to win the game but the finish was lacking for both teams. They are a tough big physical team to play against and will be hard to play against at there place.

As for Jackson ive yet too see him play well, he offers very little and the amount of times he just ran into the full back yesterday was embarrassing.

It depends how you look at it. We are one point better off at home but have lost THREE games at home compared to one away.

When you consider that it's your home games you are meant to win that would suggest that actually playing away is much more of a benefit to our players.

Very pleased to see the Man Mountain for the Imps Mr Rhead trying at least five times to get the Sprinklers working by lying face down and sucking at the sprinkles heads but to no avail. he,s a better dancer or site screen wasted on a football pitch dont know what he was like as teenager.

He was engrossed in conversation with Sutton at full time -I think they played together at Mansfield.It was noticeable in the first few minutes how Lincoln basically plonked the ball on his head and he did a few decent layoffs to his colleagues whilst hardly moving himself. He also positioned himself in Hills area and obviously with his height and bulk caused our smallest defender some problems.

I have to admit I did have a laugh as both teams came out at the beginning of the game. For one moment I thought I'd been miraculously transported to the Balaclava pitch for a Houliahn's League match between Rock Ferry Social and Biddy Hotel.
