Rovers take on Colchester United at Prenton Park this Saturday after finally recording a win for the first time in eight games on Tuesday night at home to League Two side Lincoln City in the LDV Vans Trophy. Rovers are still looking for only their third win in the League this season.

Tranmere go into only their second Saturday home game of the season against Colchester United having finally ended a run of eight games without a win.  Rovers were victorious over Lincoln City in the LDV Vans Trophy first round on Tuesday night and the fans will be hoping that it will give the players a boost ahead of this important game.

 

Opponents Colchester have had mixed fortunes themselves in recent games but they have only lost one of their last six games with two wins and three draws.

 

Rovers have not won at home or away in the league since August 29th when they won 1-0 over fellow strugglers Swindon Town at Prenton Park.

 

In the league meetings between the two sides last season, Rovers won 2-1 at Layer Road for their second away victory in five days thanks to goals from Dagnall and Zola but in the return game at Prenton Park despite an early goal from Eugene Dadi, Colchester snatched a 1-1 draw thanks to a second half strike from Greg Halford.

Tranmere Rovers – Brian Little is expected to name an unchanged starting line-up from the team that beat Lincoln City on Tuesday night. 

 

Midfielders Danny Harrison (broken nose) and Jason McAteer (knee) are still sidelined and new loan midfield signing Steven O’Leary from Luton Town may have to settle for a place on the bench after signing a month long loan deal on Friday.

 

Colchester Utd: – The U’s are also likely to name an unchanged side for this game although Karl Duguid has returned to the squad after injury and may well be on the bench.

 

Colchester have also made a loan signing in the shape of former QPR and Reading striker Jamie Cureton.
