THANKYOU ROMAN - FROM THE KOP

The proclamation of Chelsea, several years ago, was of world domination by 2014, actually made in all seriousness.  Despite the eyebrows and chuckles it evoked they were backed by a seemingly bottomless pit of money.

They had the”special one” at the helm and a galactaco of stars queuing to open a bank account. The old schools of English football seemed to be in the shadow of the new money. Manchester United alone have stood firm, whilst Liverpool unraveled, failing to compete with the Russian billions.

How ironic that the once mighty Liverpool arises once again with the help of £50 million of the Russians money.  Combined with their new owners backing and the shrewd genius of Kenny Dalglish a fire has been lit.   Red phoenix rises from the death bed made by Hicks and Gillet . Abramovich’s money will never put the likes of Chelsea on top of the world, but it might well be the springboard for Liverpool to dominate again.

After we won the 1997/98 title, a teenaged Anelka was all snarls and sulks; with his brother of a manager demanding an obscene payrise and whatnots.

Board of Directors sanctioned a move; and Wenger sold him to Real Madrid for 23-million.
Plus Wenger sold Overmars and Petit to Barca as well.

The rest is History as with Anelka Transfer Funds and Barca Transfer Funds, Wenger bought Henry, Pires, GIlberto, Lauren..and later Wiltord as well.

The rest is History with the French Spine and the Invincibles.

And Dalglish Era may "mirror-image" that of Arsene Wenger when he joined Arsenal FC in the middle of 1996/97 season..replacing Bruce Rioch.......

Graham left under a cloud...Rioch replaced him...then Wenger.

Benitez left under a cloud..Hodgson replaced him...then Dalglish.

We will know how good or how effective a "team builder" Dalglish is only during 2011/12 season....and who he buys in August 2011.

Meantime, it is "next game" result tht counts.....
and whether Suarez and Carroll will payoff bigtime like Henry and Pires did for Arsenal 1997/98 to 2003/2004....we will really know during 2011/12 and the next 6 years, i.e. to 2017/18 season.
