As Nicolas Anelka is poised to become the clubs £13 million record signing, he explains the personal reasons behind why he said yes to City.
Anelka …. City not a difficult choiceNicolas Anelka has been explaining his decision to say yes to City. The £13 million striker is expected to complete his move to City today, subject to him passing a medical. As well as being won over by Kevin Keegan and the direction the club is heading, Anelka took time to explain his personal reasons for choosing the blues."Signing for City has not been a difficult decision to make," Anelka told the Daily Mail newspaper. "They are moving to a fantastic new stadium and I already have a good friend at the club in Ali Benarbia, and Sylvain Distin has just joined from Newcastle. "I want to stay in England because life is uncomplicated. I don't like being in the spotlight and don't like being interviewed but in Spain and France the media always want an answer.” “Here, I can walk the streets unnoticed and not be bothered. That's the way I like it. I don't sulk or moan, I just like to be left alone." Anelka is expected to be joined at Maine Road this week by Argentine forward, Matias Vicente Vuoso. Vuoso arrived in Manchester this weekend and was said to be in discussion with club officials today. If everything goes to plan, City are expecting to announce the signing of Vuoso by the middle of the week. If Vuoso signs it will take Keegan’s summer spending to somewhere around the £23 million mark. There can be little doubt that he will be looking to recoup some of that money and with Wolves once more sniffing around the Goat expect some movement on that front in the next few weeks. |
