Chester City's unofficial Sport Network site interviewed a Southend fan who wishes to stay anonymous about the fast approaching league two fixture.

Matthew Jones: How have Southend been playing of late?

Southend Fan: Southend have been doing very well recently, They where unbeaten in February (2 draws, and 3 wins), Since the start of 2005 we’ve only lost 1 game, drawn 4 and won 8 including 2 LDV games.

MJ: When Chester travelled down to Southend, they lost 1-0. Chester certainly haven’t improved since then – have Southend?

SF: Since the game in December we have improved a lot, our defence is stronger then ever, we have a great bunch of players and have only lost 2 games since then.

MJ: Southend lie fifth in league two – is that position justified by their performances this season.

SF: Yes I think we’ve had a few injury problems, as we only have a small team anyway, but we’ve had a few setbacks but we have a good set of players who all want to be in the team and all give 100% when given the chance, We have done great this season and the players should be proud of the performances they put in. There a great bunch of players and all do wonders for the club!

MJ: Do you fully expect to beat Chester at the weekend?

SF: To be honest no, I think it will be a tough game, it was back in December when we played you, and I think Chester are a good side, but I’m hoping we have a good night and a good performance, I will be happy with a draw but would prefer a win, which could take us up to 2nd depending on the other results from teams above us.

MJ: Chester will be without a manager on Saturday - how do you think this will effect Southends performance?

SF: Hmmmm. I think it will be a very hard game, Southend dont usually play to well against teams with no managers, i think it will put a lot of pressure on us, but hopefully we can still get a result at the end even if its just a draw.

MJ: Finally, your prediction for the game.

SF: This is a hard one, but I think I’m gonna go for a 2-0 win for Southend with Fredy Eastwood and Mark Bentley scoring the goals.
