Chester plan to keep Liverpudlian Foy permanently

Chester look to extend the loan stay of Robby Foy, with the hope of a permanent deal. Chester are also close to taking Swindon full-back Andy Nicholas on loan.

Steven Vaughan today announced that Chester hope to keep hold of young liverpudlian, Robby Foy. The Scotland U-21 striker, on loan from the reds, has made an instant impression on the supporters, as well as the board and management team since he arrived almost a month ago. He has played in every game since then, but his set for a return to Liverpool on March 20th, and Vaughan has made Chester’s intentions clear they wish to sign him on a permanent basis.
Said Vaughan, "We would like to acquire Robbie on a permanent basis but at the moment our main priority is to hopefully lengthen the loan spell from Liverpool."
It seems however, and rather unfortunately, that such a permanent move isn’t on the cards. Rafael Benitez has moved to assure the young Scot that he remains in his future plans- providing he knuckles down, and works hard over the duration of his loan spell.
And Foy appears to have reacted to that rather than setting his sights on a permanent move to the Deva.
"Going to Chester has shown me what reality is like. But I'm here for first-team experience. Mr Benitez has told me to be patient because I will get my chance at Liverpool.
“Any kid would give their arm to be where I am. I’m playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world with a great manager and great traditions. Mr Benitez is very honest, telling you what you’re good at and what you need to improve on. He has a different attitude to coaches who were here before him. He’s adamant that my time will come soon in the first team."

Meanwhile, Chester look set to announce the signing of Andy Nicholas, but on loan, rather than permanent. Swindon boss Andy King believes such a move would be better for the left-back, who has failed to make an impression in the first team following a pre-season injury, despite playing over 30 times for them last season.

And in other news, Chester look set to lose out on a move for Gary Jones. The Tranmere striker, who also plays in defence and midfield, and has played over 300 times for the Merseyside based club, was set to reopen talks with Chester at the end of the season. However, Oldham boss Ronnie Moore, has reportedly shown interest in capturing him for the Latics before the transfer deadline closes on March 24th.
