Former Player Announces His Retirement

In a week of sad announcements at the club, another arrived yesterday (although not in the same class as the previous two, the deaths of Alan Ashman and Mrs Alsop).

Former Walsall and Bristol Rovers stalwart Andy Tilson announced his retirement from professional football yesterday, due to persistent back problems.

He was a hero to the fans at Bristol, many of whom were disappointed when he left to join us, but glad to see him finally get his chance at a higher level.

Although we didn't see the best of him, as he was nearing the end of his career, he still gave valuable service to the club.

I would expect him to turn up at Bristol Rovers soon, in some capacity!
