Sugar for Accies or Thistle?

A flippant comment from Sir Alan Sugar on a Radio programme has sparked a belief the Apprentice host could be about to invest in Scottish football.

The former Spurs owner appeared on The Chris Moyles Breakfast show on Radio 1, yesterday.

He was asked by Leeds United fan Moyles if he’d be interested in buying the Yorkshire club, but said no. He also denied requests from Moyles’ sidekick Comedy Dave if he would take over his favourite club Everton.

He then said: “Not them. Partick Thistle maybe. I’ve always liked Hamilton Academicals. I’ve always liked the name. I like the name, so that’s one reason to buy them.”

For me this seems to be more of a throw away line rather than any genuine interest but it has sparked some belief in the camps of both clubs.

The Thistle fans have been on Twitter looking for the business man to come north and help them out. Slightly different on Accies World forum where they would rather settle for current owner Ronnie McDonald.

This appears to me to the type of story that will help fill column inches while nothing else is happening in the summer…..but I may be proved wrong when the main man moves north and tells Billy Reid…..Your Fired!!!
