Authorities discuss Rangers newco

Both the SFL and the SFA have today made statements/announcements which will affect the future of the Charles Green newco.

The SFA have given Green until Friday to complete and application to join the SFA, including details of the business plan and the fit and proper criteria for his backers.

Given what we have in the public domain this could be a short discussion in dealing with the application. We have yet to see any hint of a business plan, and indeed the Daily Record’s Keith Jackson is hinting the newco could go into administration!

This all makes you wonder how the Rangers fans groups can blame the other teams for their current troubles. At this rate they won’t get elected back into the SFA meaning they won’t be playing next anywhere next week, never mind the SFL.

The SFL themselves held a board meeting today, and they ended the meeting with one of the shortest statements ever released;

“The SFL Board met today to discuss a number of issues currently affecting our game. The three governing bodies will continue to work together over the coming days to deliver a way forward which will be in the interests of the game.

“Key to that process will be a full consultation with club which will take place early next week.”

This doesn’t tell us very much about what they intend to do with the newco, and it sounds as though they are waiting on the SFA decision. This would mean the SFL would not need to make a decision.

All I can say is roll on 4^th July and hopefully all of this will be over, although I can see it dragging on until the start of the SPL season on 4^th August.
